Sup NT,
This is one of my first posts in the in the Norcal section, I am originally from Mtn. View, California and am currently in school at UH Manoa. I wanted to share with all my NT fam in Norcal the most recent thing I have taken part of.
Here is a link to our news article:
http://www.soles4souls.or...s4souls-for-japan-relief
I am currently partnering with Soles4Souls, a charity group, that helps those in need with unwanted shoes. My basketball team and organization have taken the initiative to help Japan from Hawaii. We all have ties in one way or another to Japan and we wanted to help support the relief efforts without making people necessarily pay money out of their pockets. We thought since we all had a passion for shoes, what better way to help out than to run a shoe drive. Soles4souls have provided me with the materials to run a shoe drive for Japan here in Hawaii. I am currently collecting shoes from April 1st to May 2nd. We have a whole bunch of drop off locations around Honolulu including University Of Hawaii Manoa College of Business and also Ala Moana Shopping Center. I am trying to help those who are in need and have been effected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and have also produced a t-shirt to be sold to help support the US-Japan Council Relief Fund < http://www.usjapancouncil.org/fund > . 100% of our proceeds from donations and our t-shirt sales go straight to this fund and also to help defray our shipping costs to the Soles4Souls processing facility.
Im on the left and my classmate from University of Hawaii who is helping me out.
this is the start of our collection before opening it up to 80+ churches, UH Manoa campus, and the rest of the public. We are passing out flyers and focusing on trying to get our word out through social media and press releases. We had over 100 pairs of shoes donated before officially starting.
these are two families that i play ball with and also support what we are doing as Sick Kicks. The guy with the hat is another co-founder of our organization.
here is the process of how we got our t-shirt made. You can find it on Sickkicks.bigcartel.com for purchase.
we sketched it up first
then took it and colored it in and outlined everything
made the mock up
got a sample done
and printed the shirts
We are opening it up for sale tomorrow April 6th. We are hoping NT would be interested in supporting our Japan Relief efforts and purchasing a t-shirt or donating to our cause. For more info on the inspiration please visit our web-store or visit our facebook (links below)
We are holding a raffle for those interested and who purchased a donation or t-shirt. We have sponsors who are donating prizes such as DS Jordan 12 Rising Suns, Olympic 6s, gift certificates to salons, Lids, and more. Raffle will end in May and winners will be chosen at random. If you are interested take a look at our facebook page @ facebook.com/sick.kicks or follow us on twitter @ twitter.com/sick_kicks. Any other questions hit me up at Sickkicks.JapanRelief@gmail.com
Thanks NT for reading. If you wanna donate to the cause, Sports Chalet is running the same partnership for the mainland. Another option if you feel compelled to still donate, you can contact us and ship your unwanted shoes to us for collection. We will add it to our pile
