exactly...that pic speaks volumes and some of us just don't get it. i know it'll never change because at the end of the day, it's all about the money. but why does it have to be at the expense of those who lost their lives for our freedom?

and Trilluminated....it's not so much as expecting him to be intelligent, i can see daily that he is FAR from that as it relates to this issue, but more so expecting him to have some kind of respect for this man and the movement that started because of this pic and other race related issues. and no it's not just lil wayne, but plenty of other rappers too. i'm not a huge rap fan and that's good with me, but at some point i hope for the better.

Didn't check the article but regardless of what he raps about, how vulgar he is, how he comes off, he is actually pretty intelligent and also business savvy in regard to what he does. A lot of Young Money is, actually. Minaj went to graduate school and finished in a top percentage of her class from what I read. Doesn't make many of the things they say and do seem less ignorant but they're pretty smart off the record. It's just a big game to them. Can't remember who said it but I watched an interview of a rapper the other day who said they rap about weed and this and that and even have it in their videos and they said they haven't smoked in almost five years. It's just a role they play. (*some of them)

While I do feel that there are many injustices still affecting blacks today...none of them hinder comfortable living for enough black people for it to spark a revolution. During the Civil Rights movement and w/ the Emitt Till case the treatment of blacks literally made it impossible for them to go a whole day feeling comfortable in their own country. They were ALL denied a plethora of things, which hindered our cultural development, all because white people felt they were inferior. Now-a-days you have police brutality cases, unfair situations as a result of racism, racial profiling, etc. but on a mass scale black people can function in this country freely with the same liberties as everyone else. We can get good jobs. We can prosper. We can go to any school we want. We can be PRESIDENT. We can win grammys. We can buy anything we want, go anywhere we want, and participate in anything we want as long as we have the money and freedom. So basically it would take a lot more than some ignorant rappers and scattered news stories about racial injustice to make the ENTIRE race stand behind another movement so impactful.
