Bridgette Bird is a smart, young single mom living in South Boston who is trying to navigate life with a very unconventional family. As she struggles to make ends meet, she strives to create a better life for her son, Larry, and often finds herself making impulsive and immature decisions. The program is a fresh, raw, and honest comedic look at co-parenting, motherhood and female sexuality. "SMILF" is adapted from Frankie Shaw's Sundance Film Festival Jury award-winning short film.

Saw part of an episode where she was banging some dude and her kid who looked mixed race was being cared for at an hospital by her friend.

She was getting hammered by dude while her friend was on the phone and making decisions for her child :{

Might check it out.

Saw a preview for it yesterday b4 I got ready 2 watch up on white famous. Bout 2 check out the episode that just dropped then watch this

Just watched

Might watch another episode later to see how it continues

I've been watching it. Shawty was in season 1 of Mr. Robot. The show also has two rappers in it (Aztek and Bodega Bamz). Kind of feels like a low rent Shameless. I'm curious about the mixed kid- Aztek and a White chick shouldn't be able to produce a kid that looks like that. I wonder if that's on purpose, meaning she smashed a Black dude and lied about who the father is and the truth gets revealed later in the season. Or maybe the showrunners didn't think about that and said lets just get a cute, mixed baby. I dont know. But I'm still watching, mostly because I've wanted to bang that chick since Mr Robot and Bodega is cool (#PlatanoPower). It's also more interesting than White Famous strangely enough. I know Smilf got picked up for a second season so that's good for them.

I literally say this out loud every episode....

Watched an episode Saturday, seems interesting. They got the baby mama/daddy dynamic down

The Run Lola Run homage in the last episode was kind of random but interesting.

Honestly I was surprised she did so poorly at the tryouts, well at least halfway through then I knew how the rest of it would carry out

Bridge got some real friends, Idk if I'm ridin' with you to the junk yard and you haven't even checked their hours and I'm not smackin' you a few times cause it's "locked" when we get there. Lucked up getting her car back for free tho

watched the first three eps
saw some basketball, *******, and some ******* the first couple minutes into the first episodes and it reeled me in :lol

This was a good show. Interested in seeing where they go with it for a second season.

Bridgette could get it.

 @ confronting your pedo dad and then dude aint even your dad.

‘SMILF’s Frankie Shaw Teases Weirder, Darker Season 2: “We’re Dealing With Identity” – The Contenders Emmys Video

Taking a break from writing the second season of Showtime’s SMILF, creator-star Frankie Shaw appeared at Deadline’s The Contenders Emmys event to tease where the series is heading. “Season 1 was sort of setting the tone and the stage, that we can go into absurdity, and that we’re dealing with topics such as mental illness and sexual violence,” she told the packed crowd at the DGA Theater. “This season, it gets weirder and darker. We’re dealing with identity, and the masks we wear, and how we present ourselves to the world.”

Loosely based on Shaw’s own experiences as an actress doubling as a single mom, SMILFbegan its life as a Sundance Jury Prize-winning short. But as the actress explained to moderator Michael Ausiello of TVLine, a SMILF series was always the end goal.

“I’d written a pilot because I wanted to try to get staffed on a writing staff, and then I ended up shooting a scene from that pilot, and that became the proof of concept…when I went to pitch the show,” Shaw said. Moving forward with a short film version of her project that drew heat out of Park City, she was able to realize her ambition.

During the panel, Shaw was asked to single out her favorite hat of the many she wears on her series as its creator, writer, director and star. “I love directing,” she said. “You know the ‘flow state’ athletes talk about? That’s where I feel like all the anxiety goes away, when I’m right in the moment.”

Shaw also discussed Rosie O’Donnell’s powerful, raw performance as Tutu—the mentally ill mother of Shaw’s single mother Bridgette—and the biggest differences between herself and her SMILF character. “Bridgette has to be the butt of the joke in order for us to explore certain issues and topics that we want to in each episode, so we get to make fun of her maybe more than I would make fun of myself, or want other people to make fun of me,” Shaw admitted. “She’s struggling with so many issues. I feel like maybe at one point, I had struggled to a degree like she does, but we really push her even further.”

Check out the conversation above.
