Sneaker Head vs Hypebeast!?!

So I was into shoes big time growing up and all through high school. I had them all! I slowed down after high school, focused more on my future and saved money so I got out the sneaker game for a good 10 years!!! Well now that I have all the things I would want (nice house, nice cars and healthy family) I have gotten back into the shoe game! But times have changed, process has changed, my hook ups are gone... Terminology is way different, which leads to my question.

What the hell is the difference between a Sneaker Head and a Hypebeast?

A sneakerhead is someone who likes sneakers and has a decent amount of knowledge about them. A sneakerhead buys what he/she likes here and there.

A hypebeast is a sneakerhead on steroids. Hypebeast cops every release, ESPECIALLY if they're limited. Early on when a shoe's pictures first come out they'll claim how wack a sneaker may be but as the nsw/marqueesole hype machine starts churning the hypebeast will start posting about how many multiples of the shoe they will buy. Hypebeast wouldn't be caught dead without the newest release.

i bought a lot more shoes ~5 years ago. always bought what i liked and never cared for anything else, and at the time i dressed differently so i was more into jordans, dunks, and other nikes. i slowed down afterwards but i never stopped. most of the time it was because i could not find the funds to afford them. but now, i find myself instead of buying into jordans and limited releases and whatnot, i have gotten more into running shoes, and that is what i have been buying as of lately.

so am i a sneakerhead? a hypebeast? or just a person that buys sneakers?

now i see the word thrown around like crazy by lames

people calling other people hypebeast are usually hypebeast themselves around my area..

the sneaker culture is gone... or as some of you like to call it the "sneaker game"
