This may be a weird question, but with sneakers actually having a collectibles value nowadays, and costing way more then there msrp. Does anyone know where I can get insurance for my kicks? And a good place where I could have them appraised? My collection is getting up there and I'd like to insure my investment. Called my local insurance agency but they only offer the typical renters insurance... Anyone else out there conquer this particular problem?

Lol super random but I feel ya...maybe some kind of home insurance I d k...Im sure perfect pair etc has the answer try and ask him

Right and I guess I could ask perfect pair but his pay scale is beyond the average sneaker head doesn't he own a casino or something [emoji]129300[/emoji][emoji]129300[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]... Figured someone on Nike talk would know since we have all these amazing collections

I looked into this before... Don't remember the cost and what not but was told they could only give me the value of the shoe at the time I bought them. So if I paid $200 for J's and something happens and those same J's are now $500... I would only get $200

Been a min so I could be wrong but that's what I remember

Yea that basic renters insurance, but say if you have like a collectible baseball or old school car they are insured for their market value... And MJ rookie card ain't gonna be insure for the $2.95 since that upper deck pack costed you...guess I'll have to look more into this

Your rental/home insurance is not going to do it.
Google " collectible insurance" to find more info.
Unless your sneaker is rare/ $$$$ is not with the time or money to getting it insured.

First of all chill, I did not say your collection is not with it. Google " collectible insurance " and do the research to understand what an collectible insurance consider collectibles and worth to insured.

Example: if your collection is worth $20K and you pay 5% annual which is $1k per year. Is that worth it to you. Again to be clear this is not direct it at you but using an as a exmple.

Ok Fair enough here you go.

1. Home insurance company will only cover the value of the original purchase minus depreciation.
2. Your best luck is to find a sport collectible insurance company. There are actually a lot of them out there. Use to have a co-workers that collected Auth NFL jerseys.
3. You must have the original purchase recipt.
4. Don't insure your entire collection, only some as this will save you money.

5. You will also need to show and proof that you are storing in a safe place. I.e. Not in the garage [emoji]128516[/emoji]
6. If they are ever stolen from your house. You better make sure that it was a force break in and not that you forgot to lock your door/Windows/garage.

Collectible insurance is different from a home personal property insurance. FYI I collect watches .

Cool see that's what I needed and I looked up like one or two sites... But back when I did my search they said I had to have a third party appraise my kicks... I don't know anyone who does that... Comic book and cards are a lot easier cause they have those companies that do it for you if you pay them... They grade the condition and list the current market price for your item ... Don't know any companies that do that same service for sneakers

Unfortunately, this has actually happened to me. Amassed over 400+ pairs over 10yrs; about 150+were taken along with tons of other stuff. Filed a police report and a claim with our homeowner's insurance (standard homeowners, nothing specific concerning collectibles/sneakers). I was pretty fanatical with keeping receipts from back then, and almost had all other receipts through online purchases. The insurance adjuster was very understanding, and couldn't believe I had so many sneakers. Honestly, I think my story is more of the exception to the rule. From what I hear from other home insurance losses, they tend to lowball you quite a bit. Long story short, I was able to get market value for all the shoes taken!
