I have a '99 Lexus GS300 and the key broke.  the key blade detached from the plastic shell.

I called Lexus and they're still charging like $150+ just for a blank blade with a plastic shell.

I got one off of eBay but the blade is too long and lexus claims they can't cut it to make it shorter.

I still have the remote for the alarm, but my question it, is that a site or something i can go to just to get a blank key and shell for a fairly cheap price?

google locksmiths around your way.. there should be at least one that's able to laser cut Lex keys.

As I understand it it's not the cutting the keys that's the problem - but coding them for the immobiliser. I've got a Volvo and they're expensive too - you have to have them computer coded at the dealer with the original paperwork - there's no other way to make the key work.

It's not just Lexus, I have a friend who needed a replacement Key for a '03 Nissan Altima costs almost as much, if not more.

yeah my sister has a 97 prelude... she needed to get a spare and honda quoted her at 180... went to a local locksmith and charged her a little over half the price...

Infiniti told me a spare cost $250

Man, I almost had a heart attack last spring at a concert on a college campus.

Didn't realize I didn't have my keys until like 3-4 hours in.

Got back to my car and it was still in the door

When I called around (beforehand) they said there was no real way around it besides spending the $150 from the dealership.

so that's a legit place russoull?

is it worth getting the switchblad key?

My old 1999 Nissan Maxima cost me $150 for the spare key. The dealer is the ONLY place i could get them from.
