society..a group people who are brought together by persistent form of relationship..
but who is to label something as "right" or "wrong"

why must society label what is right and wrong? no one can form a personal opinion and go agents society with out seeming like and outcast, or crazy.. maybe all these criminals are just normal people that have different views that there society dose... so if were to break a law, im a bad person because my society says so?..discuss.

if i were high..would that be right..or wrong?..
there has to be more to life than right or wrong..society has no right to label something of personal perspective..

fight the power mannn..

Makes perfect sense and I think I started thinking this way a couple of years ago (which changes your mindset towards everything completely - and for the better imo)..

Of course, 90% of the replies you'll probably get are just going to be people asking if you're high or crazy

Could be an interesting topic though, OP do you like traveling a lot/exploring other cultures?

So we should allow criminal activity because it is an environmental trait? What are you getting at here?

what you may consider as "criminal activity" may be nothing to the next man..its all about personal perspective..a collective of people (society) labeling something as a "crime" is merely a perspective of the group..

i agree some illegal activities are common sense..but you throw a gun in the hands of a soldier and you pay him to kill the enemy and some see that as brave and patriotic..some see it as senseless and violent..its all about personal perspective..

Is that the only terrible analogy you can come up with?

Do you think those soldiers were criminals in their civilian life? No. There is a clear boundary there. Criminals act without consent. Soldiers usually don't. I mean you can argue with the nature of the consent but there is a world of difference. Who consented for someone to rape a girl? The environment... you really believe that? I'm not saying soldiers are saints but there is a difference.

I mean you can look at the flipside of everything but there are societal constraints in place to separate the civil from the criminal. You want to change the entire foundations of human civilization? Order to chaos?

no one is talking about changing any foundation of human civilization...who are you to label something as civil or criminal?

the societal constraints that you speak of may mean nothing to the next man..in this diverse society, we have many people from all over the world who come from different cultures and customs, how do you know that a certain "crime" such as rape or murder is as equally as frowned upon in other society's as it is in this one? it may not be a big deal to some people and to others it may be a huge crime..in no way am i justifying that rape or muder is ok..but thats just my opinion but the next man can could think its cool.

its allll about perspective my friend..

^That's the entire point though. There are already standards of civilized behavior in place. They are omnipresent. I'm saying it's a lack of intellect and perspective to not understand the society we live in. I'm not saying all criminals are terrible people but things like rape will never be justified and are vile, no matter what perspective or environment one grew up in. There isn't a spin on that.

Don't you think the other thinking it's cool is dumb though? Doesn't he know what type of society has been constructed? One where chaotic behaviors are minimized and order often achieved. It's a lack of intellect and failure to ascertain reality to think that way if you ask me.

You're inventing scenarios that don't exist. Who condones rape? What environment breeds acceptance of that act?
