So, I asked around and found a way to fix the PS3 YLOD. My question is how long would this fix last me? Some people said 20 min, some people said its a temporary fix. Does anyone know if im better off just sending the PS3 60gb model to sony and having it fixed for 179 or getting a refurb machine for 149.

Thanks

just check craigslist for someone in your area to do it for the low

thats what i do with fixes for my systems

everything I've heard is the fix just a few months at most...
mine happened in late January.
I'm just going to bite the bullet and get a slim 120gb. the slims didn't cheap out on the solder they used..

and I could be wrong, but if you send it in to Sony, I don't think you will be getting a refurb 60gb back. there are no more.

I spoke to Sony and they said they will fix the 60gb for $179. This seems to suck. Why don't they just bring back emotion chips for the new PS3s?

because theyre still most likely selling the ps3 at a loss

Local shop for half that or even less. Got mine fixed at a local shop in LA for $45 and got a 3 month warranty.

My ps3 has been collecting dust since sept 3rd 09. Update 3.01 messed up my br drive. It doesn't recognize anything. I refuse to pay em the money. Thinking about replacing it myself when I have extra money. Any input?
