Yeah its possible what you just said. On XBox people were "allegedly" banned even though they never played online. Most systems track certain things like trophies/achievements and other data while you are offline and just send it back whenever you connect.

I'm thinking that it's more of sony's style to come up with a new firmware that will just erase the cfw rather than ban us but we'll see. I *don't* like how ppl are trying to cheat with trophies now tho.
I'm not into trophies personally but Sony obviously takes it seriously. that and pirating ps3 games would piss them off, I'm sure. I still don't think they'll carry the case forward for long tho. It could set precedence like the case against jailbreaking iPhones.
