Sooo who thinks A&E's "Intervention" is fake?

I'm not one for watching TV but I got sucked in and ended up watching an episode of this "reality TV" lastweekend at a friend's house. The first thing that struck me was how terrible the acting was. Not only that but everything was sensationalized andover-exaggerated, and the situations were almost comically far fetched (a guy addicted to meth sat at his computer and watched porn for 8-9 consecutive hours.They claimed after the segment he masturbated 12 times. I mean, come on. REALLY people!??) . I've dealt with addiction all my life; my mom withcrack/PCP/heroin/etc, my brother with Oxy's/heroin/methadone, pops with alcohol and all the above listed and I've struggled with stuff myself (too muchinfo but w/e) so I'm no stranger to the "lifestyle". It's clear when someone is simply acting. Even clearer when it's [color= rgb(0, 204, 255)]bad[/color] acting. I'm distrustful of the media and their agenda asis, but seeing things like this enrages me. I'm all for inspirational addiction stories (Basketball Diaries, anyone?) but when thinly veiled propaganda issold as "reality" to make it more believable, I have a problem. If they can create that "reality", why not other things as well? Where isthe line drawn? Anybody else feel this way?

I've watched almost every episode of Intervention and I doubt it's fake. Some people may be overacting for the cameras, however. The reason that someof the stories are crazy is because they hand pick the biggest train wrecks to put on the show. And most of the things that happen are not that outlandish. Ihave seen some stuff in the past few years that would make insane Intervention episodes.

From what I've been told they try to go after the people least likely to want to get off drugs and even sometimes give them money to score to make themseem even more out of it.

One of the realest shows I've ever seen.

I use to have an addiction as well and this stuff is as true as it gets.
