sprained ankle

you will be fine, just give it a few days. check in with at least 2 doctors for diagnosis. most of the time it is nothing serious.

It usually takes me about five days to a week to recover.

I haven't played ball for the past nine days because of a sprained ankle as well as other pain in the thighs and calf. I'll rest for another three days and hopefully, I'm back on the court.

i was walking after week, less pain after last week...this week i can walk and jog a few feet before theirs
a dull pain that kills when i sleep, wearing a brace is optional....but heal time is 6 weeks.

i sprained my ankle at the beach pretty bad last year. took about about 3-4 weeks for it to heal...couldn't walk on it the first week. after that i just tried my best to walk on it so it didn't get super stiff.

23. I've been healing up my ankles within 3-4 days since I was a kid.
I'm not sure if this process with keep its effectiveness into my old age, but I hope so.

Tore ligaments my ankles twice already. Just came off a bad sprain. I was in crutches for a week and a cast for 2 weeks.

For people saying walk on it, it will heal faster and you'll be back to normal quicker. But in the long run, it's going to be bad. You're ligaments need to heal and they can't heal properly if your constantly putting weight on it.

The best thing you can do is use crutches for a week or two. As soon as you are able to, start doing exercises to strengthen your ankle. After you are done, ice and elevate. You want to reduce the swelling so you can get more range of motion. Over time the swelling will go down, your ankle will get stronger and you will have more range of motion. The exercises help "pump" the fluid out of your ankle. Once your ankle is strong enough to flex and be able to support your weight, you can walk again. Continue to ice. Also, invest in some resistance bands.

The best way to prevent an ankle injury is to strengthen and increase your flexibility. I learned the hard way. Make you loosen up your ankle before you ball. Roll the arch of your foot over a tennis ball for a minute before you play. This will greatly increase your flexibility in your calf muscle and ankle. Also, do some inversion and eversion exercises. This will prevent you from rolling your ankle and will reduce the chances of causing significant damage when you do roll it. Ankle braces are bad in the long run. You become dependent on it and your ankle becomes weaker. The ankle is DESIGNED TO FLEX.

Sources: 2 torn ligaments and a fractured ankle. But in a fiberglass cast all 3 times and rehab twice for the sprains

Sprained ankles arent bad I sprained my knee last friday been resting ever since, It was so swollen the orthopedic couldnt tell if it was a torn ACL or MCL. But I dont think it's either because I can walk on it and put pressure on it now. I've got an appointment with the doctor this thursday, hopefully it was just a bad sprain no torn acl.

Anyway you'll be good mad epps n salt hot water, ice it I sprained my ankles about 4-5 times it's not that bad.

Didn't read whole thread yet but FALSE.
If it's still swollen, keep icing it. 4-5x a day 15-20mins every 1.5-2 hours.

Try some ankle range of motion exercises and rest. Walking is okay but no running/sports and if you walk a lot at the mall or something take rest if you feel tired. Be sure to do strengthening exercises later on when you can stand on it without any problem.

Go to physio if you have insurance. If its not better in like 1-2 weeks I'd say seek physio as well.
