given the passing of Michael Jackson (RIP), it seems some people are asking who is the "next king of pop" or could a hip hop artist ever have as muchinfluence/importance.

Basically i just want to make the point that in Hip-Hop you cant be a Die hard fan without being disappointed and labeled a STAN.

No one calls MJ fans STANS, but if a hip hop artist had fans that were as "fanatic" as Michaels fans, they would immediately be labeled Stans.

to be fair though no hip hop artist really deserves the type of following mike had. First of all he is the most extraordinary overall artist of all time. Ontop of that his philanthropy record is very long. He actually tried to make a difference in the world and inspired people in all walks of life. Thats no knockon hip hop because they try to but they dont have the same means as mike and it really helped mike and vice versa but Mike Jack sphere of influence> thanthat of your favorite rapper

i 100% agree, mike > ________ on many levels. However, my point is that in hip-hop, a fan gets hate for showing real support for their favorite artists.Other genres dont have that "Stan" label. In Rock, Country, some R&B there are DIE HARD FANS, that dont get hate. Thats what i was trying to say.

I think its just cuz the rap world is so competitive and that boils down to the fans as well. They just call people stans(thanks em) so u feel lame disagreeingwith them when they say something negative about your favorite artist.
