standards = slight gold digging...?

Nah.

Standards = not undervaluing what you bring to the table.
Gold digging = overvaluing what they bring to the table.

Kinda agree, but gold digging really is just someone looking for a free ride in life from someone else.

I don't think so.

Standards to me is not settling out of desperation. Gold digging is being with someone purely for money.

As a male, growing up with the perception that a man is the provider, I honestly don't think about how much money a woman has at all. So my standards have nothing to do with money at all.

Word, I really just look at what does she have going on for herself, as in education, goals morals and of course donkey booty

Standards encompass way more than financial status.

And even if it does relate to finances it's not always about gold digging.

There's a lot of females out there killing the game who are self made so it's about being with someone at an equal footing.

Men have been in the provider role forever so if there's a large income disparity a lot of guys won't give a **** as long as she's ticking all the other boxes.

On the flip side, a woman in the bread winner role is a relatively new thing so i'd imagine that paradigm shift could create a lot of weirdness in a relationship.

gotta admit... it's kind of flattering when a chick who got more $ than you shows you attention

I cant see how wanting a financially stable mate equates to "slight" goldigging. Now if someone is saying that their potential mate has to be making minimum x amount of dollars then I can see it

Wouldn't that also depend on where you live though?

Never let a girl know how much money you got in the bank. Even if that's ya girl for a year. Made this mistake with my ex and got hit with the "why can't you get me these? You got like ____ dollars" on many occasions.

Nah, being broke is horrible. If you've been there, you never wan't to go back, and you won't allow someone else to drag you back down there. Making sure the other person brings atleast a decent amount to the table, or atleast has plans and the drive to is essential.

Man, I learned this lesson the hard way My Ex was super bad, and I think I felt the need to flaunt about how much I was pullin to get her early in the relationship dynamic. I was new money then so a playa had a hard time keeping it in and I definitely wanted a bad side piece. Anyhow, from then on I never did enough for her financially. I once significantly subsidized (damn near all of it) a designer jacket for her after spending hella guap on Valentines Day a week earlier, and she goes, "if you loved me, you would have paid for all of it" a week later. I said, bishhhhhh.

Never let a woman know your financial situation. Chances are if you do, she might only be with you because of it. I think thats why ball players end up marrying these women that leave their *** as soon as the check stops. Don't introduce money into the equation until the equation is proven and justified. From now on, until you're my fiance, you wont have any idea about my financial status. The game is cold.

But, I dont think standards equate to gold digging as long as the standards are met by the other party. Like, I dont think its wrong for a chick with a PhD in education to want to date a doctor or a lawyer. She put in work, and just chose a field that doesnt make guap, but she has the intellectual capital invested to make certain demands from her significant other.

If your "standards" are based on material things, then yes, standards = lightwieght gold diggin.

Requesting something that you yourself have = standards

Requesting something of someone that you don't have = gold digging

Standards are or at least should be a preference. Different variables and circumstances can change them

people have expectations and desires, so what‘s the issue here?

The reason relationships are so ****** up these days is because its all based on pure selfishness. You have decided, 1. that you want to be in love and 2. a basic description of what that persons looks like, physically and figuratively. Your "standards" as they call it. So then you go out in the world looking to put someone in the box you designed for your own personal happiness and satisfaction. Your love was predetermined before there was an object/subject to give that love to. It has nothing to do with loving someone else and everything to do with fulfilling your own desires.

Everyone is free to have standards, if you're able to get someone that meets those standards is the question and not everyone can have.
