My sons want to see this and I wouldn’t mind either. Going to have to wait for next weekend or so. Not trying to fight Memorial weekend crowds plus I’m sick right now

Just got out of the theater a little while ago. Movie was fun. My wife talking bout another baby after watching Grogu :lol. Hellllll nahhhh.

Movie was fun though. Is it a game breaking storyline with impact on future movies? Nah, and not every movie has to lead to the next…But it was fun for those of us who have followed Mando/Grogu over the years, and even nice little nods to those of us who watched Clone Wars and Rebels.

Me in the theater when Filoni popped up for a quick second :lol

movie was definitely a side quest/2hr bonus episode of the series

it was fun with good visual and lots of action though so i enjoyed it for what it is

imax screen definitely helps because when its in full imax mode, the film just looks incredible

a one and done for me but i am also glad to experience on imax

I enjoyed it for what it was, but it definitely didn't lead or build towards anything, which is a bit of a let down.

Not even a hint of what could come down the line, or intro anything new diff, just 2 eps put into one film.

Nothin wrong with that, but doin a cash grab with no connectivity doesn't seem all that helpful.

Again, they have ZERO person in charge with a full, clear vision leading the franchise. I know Filoni and Fav are tryin, but it's still not dialed in at all.

Sequel trilogy, split fans right down the middle.
Rogue One, one off that they circle back to TV Andor to capitalize off it's success.
Solo brings back Maul.........so we can do more cartoons?
Mando show becomes the Grogu show.
Book of Boba served.......I don't know what purpose.
Asokha, intro's Thrawn and Ezra.......and we still waiting for why, exactly?
The Acolyte shoulda been pretty bad ***, but they had trouble sticking the landing and then kill it in terms of future.

Ryan Gosling's film is coming, we had a Rian Johnson trilogy dead before it started, a GoT trilogy dead before it started, whatever the Wonder Woman director was doin changed 6 times.......

**** man. :{

Yeah it was about as safe a movie as Disney was going to release, and that’s totally understandable…They obviously need to rebuild some of that lost goodwill among the audience…Starfighter is coming up next year so they really needed a cushioned release that they knew wouldn’t be an outright disaster…The choice was clear…

All that being said, it absolutely felt like it could’ve been any random filler episode among all the prior Mando seasons…I would absolutely love to see a Grogu-Rotta team up movie when the characters are a bit more matured, Geogu in particular…Absolutely not the best Star Wars content Disney has put out, but it didn’t do anything to hurt the franchise, so that’s a positive…

All this right here.

Score checks out. Like I said, this has always come across as a glorified season 4 opening act. So they’re avoiding a lot people who can just tune into D+ and hate watch it.

The people who’ll watch it this weekend will go from being satisfied enough to really loving it. And that score reflects that.

It’s doing worse than Solo 😭
Star Wars been in the dumps for years now. I think it’s still a W for the franchise that it’s made its production money back on its first weekend. Star Wars has not done well over the last few years so for it to even do what its doing has to make the mouse feel okay about it.

Plus merch…yea, I’m sure the Mouse is good with what its getting in return.

Why the **** they so desperate to see his face?

I'm gonna be mad i have to see his face at all. Mando's shouldn't have faces. Just helmets.

People been complaining that Pedro has been in too much stuff the last couple years, and now they're mad they didn't get to see his face? Make it make sense.

Anyway, I did actually see it today. My friend bought me the ticket, so I went. My main gripe is that there never felt like there was much at stake, so I was kind of just waiting for the next villain to show up. Couple thoughts:

1. The score was phenomenal. That dude is the best in the business right now, and I'm not sure it's close.

2. Radda referred to himself as a man multiple times. He's not human. It's just really stupid writing to try and humanize him more than they already did.

3. I felt like some of the monsters in the arena in the melee battle were an homage to the hologram characters in that fighting board game Chewbacca and C3PO played on the Millenium Falcon.

4. There were tons of homages to the SW universe, but the Blade Runner-type feel where Mando goes to save Rodda was my favorite part. It's straight out of Blade Runner, and the music was nothing like I've ever heard in a Star Wars film.

I had a fairly good time with it, in an unplug your brain and enjoy the thing for what it is kind of way…Basically a fun summer film…I fully feel like it was the best (safest) Disney could release at this point…The IP is hanging on by a strand and they needed something they could ease back into theaters with…This was that movie…I still feel that another season to flush out the storyline that was in the movie would’ve gotten people to be much softer with it simply by giving it time to breathe a bit…It’s worrisome to me because them setting this movie up to ease back into theaters before Starfighter lands next summer, could mean they aren’t fully confident in that movie…We’ll see what happens next summer I suppose…

All that being said, there’s a TON of discourse trying to proclaim this as a success, when it’s essentially running the same numbers as Solo…Can’t frame one as an abject failure and the other as a win…It’s ok to say you enjoy an unsuccessful film, absolutely nothing wrong with that…Framing it as a ~success~ and arguing that point ad nauseam does nothing but turn most people off to the points you’re trying to make…

The Hollywood Reporter says somewhere between $500M and $600M is the break even number for the film, and it’s going to seriously need legs to get there with the list of major releases coming up over the next month, all of which are going to be taking screen space from Mando…Backrooms, Masters of the Universe, Scary Movie, Disclosure Day, Toy Story 5, and Supergirl all release by June 26th…Not going to be easy to get to those break even numbers…

I can’t imagine, right now today, that anyone at Disney is happy with this weekends performance, regardless of where they thought those numbers would land…They wholly blamed the fall of the IP on Solo, going so far as to stop all theatrical projects for nearly a decade, only to be met with the same returns that Solo gave them…They very much still have some hard decisions to make as to how to get the IP back where it was…

Just saw it this morning.
Loved it.
BUT... it definitely felt like I binge watched 3 episodes of a TV series, not like a movie.
Well like I said thats the problem with doing 3 seasons of a show and releasing a movie 3 years later. They cant change the tone of the show so its always gonna look and feel the same
