Does anyone have anything that will help me understand what is going on in the class?

links, fact sheets, books for dummies....anything

Ummm... If you actually found out what your chances are of winning the lottery, you would never buy a ticket again.

I love that stuff. The only thing I dislike is that the problems usually take a while to work out so you'd never leave early on exam day. Myprofessor required us to show all works for full credit so when you have to find the standard deviation for part A to proceed to answer the question on part B,that takes a grip of time..especially if there's a lot of numbers.

i took this class but the professor had a STRONG accent; it was hard to understand and it just got more complicated as lessons progressed..but studying is yourbest option

I took it last semester...I'm sure there are other sources to get a better understanding but I don't know of any.
I can give you some advice though
-GO to class EVERY time it meets
-READ the textbook
-DO the REVIEWS at the end of each chapter
-sometimes textbooks provide a CD or website...do the QUIZZES and TESTs
-go to TUTORING
-ASK the teacher questions
-PRACTICE the math
-DO ALL the HOMEWORK

If you still don't get it...hmm I don't know what to tell you
You can also ask me for help
Good luck!!!

I took advanced stats last quarter and I thought it was one of the hardest classes I ever took. I got C's and D's on the first couple quizzes andmidterms, then I started paying more attention in class and doing the practice problems and it got so much easier.

My final grade in the class was a B+.

Take good notes and do the practice problems. Also, goto the professors office to ask for help. Some professors will grade you easier when you goto theiroffice and ask for help because they know you are putting effort into the class.

It's easy if you learn the formulas . Z-score is pretty easy .

Late80s - what specifically ?

I took General Statistics and that *@#+ was easy, but now I'm in this Experimental Statistics class and it blows my !%%%%!! mind. Funny thing is I'mtaking all these stats classes and I'm a goddamn Biology major.

**EDIT: Oh, and I think probability is actually pretty interesting, but that's probably because I play poker.

... the only thing I always got confused was thedifference between PICKING and CHOOSING! When you use the p and when you use the c

I'm pretty rusty, but I took Engineering Statistics, but I didn't take Calc 3 and it was a prereq, so that was stupid. But if you have particularquestions, you can ask any of those who have volunteered, including myself - I love math and helping with math... math minor FTW! I might get the major if itake 3 more classes, if it doesn't move me back from my current expected graduation

im taking two stat classes and one of em is probability (my first one).

i can see why its hard for people to understand, but its really not that hard. i think its just the notation and stuff that makes it hard for beginners
