Stephon Marbury appreciation post vol. First time playing tonight/activated

I sort of have mixed feelings about this situations.
smh.gif
at the Knicks for telling him to get the best shape of his career, and then pull a complete 180 on theguy. He had every right to not play for D'Antoni when he was in a sticky situation.

It hurts Steph though. He is in the last year of his contract, and he needs to show teams around the league that he can still play. Tonight would've beenthat opportunity to show that

I dont even know if tonight would have been the best stage for him. He hasnt played in a real game in god knows how long, he would have been real rusty.

steph is hurting himself in the long run. in the last three years his stats has been going down. he isnt going to get much money on his next contract. but itis what it is ...i feel him on what he did. i would have probably did the same

I wish he'd play.... but I know he's not going to

Joke of an organization?

When fans are celebrating what probably won't happen in 2010, chances are the organization is a joke.

Exactly, he's only hurting himself

How is he hurting himself? He is making $20 + this year to attend every game with a floor seat. I haven't always agreed with some of the things he hassaid/done, but this one I support. The Knicks basically told him screw you, you're not playing and you not going anywhere. Then Dantoni come to him talkingbout 30 minutes. What did Lebron say, it's a business.

Plus the leagues GMs know what Steph can do. If anything he just gotta stay outta the headlines. This is not like a player refusing to go into the game andletting his team down. This is a player that was told you not gonna play, so he is not gonna play!

Yall make me sick.
My mood has changed since last night.

The man HAD A CHANCE TO PLAY.

How about this...he sees his teammates out there busting their $$* for 40 minutes, and this is his ONE chance..

to say you know what....it's not about me, let me go help them and show that I for ONCE am better than the coach and franchise and will put my ego to theside.

Think that might have made him more attractive to the rest of the league? Showing he put team first?
He is a SELFISH $@@+++%%$@!*. And aint a damn thing changed.

And I hope no team touches him ever again in the NBA.

How are teammates of his supposed to trust him?

EVERY RIGHT NOT TO PLAY?!?
ARE YOU *!%%#!* KIDDING ME?

We the fans pay him a good amount of that 21 million...

He makes that money from the orginization..

And Because he wanted to take his ball and sit on the bench last night..

He let, US, HIS TEAM, AND THE FRANCHISE DOWN.

How can you defend that?

Oh, it's a business? Kinda like how D'Antoni decided to keep him inactive...back then yall said it was about puttin the best player on the floor andhow it was wrong..

but now it's a business, and not about the game?

Stop defending this joke of a man.

^you have no clue what your talking about....

seriously be quiet.

look up pride and self-respect in the dictionary....its about money only to a certain point....then it becomes personal
STEPH: I DID NOT REFUSE TO PLAY

By MARC BERMAN
Stephon Marbury Stephon Marbury told The Postyesterday that Mike D'Antoni's portrayal that he refused to play in Friday's game in Milwaukee is inaccurate.

Marbury said Friday morning's conversation with D'Antoni didn't last long enough for him to refuse to play.

According to Marbury, D'Antoni told him in the mid-afternoon he had 20-to-25 minutes for him in the wake of the http://shots.snap.com/explore/95159....com&cp=&asp=Jamal Crawford&dfs=10&tol=engage
Jamal Crawford trade. The conversation took place before the second trade that left the team with just seven able bodies.

"He said I have 20, 25 minutes for you if you want to play," Marbury said in an interview yesterday morning. "I said, 'You've told meyou're going in another direction and I'm not in the plans.' I never refused to play."

At that point, D'Antoni didn't bother to press the issue, according to Marbury. "He had a smile on and just said, "I totally understandit, I get you," Marbury said.

Marbury said he didn't think D'Antoni was upset and was shocked to read D'Antoni's rough comments in the newspaper yesterday.

Later Friday, D'Antoni called Marbury in his hotel room in Milwaukee to tell him he had to dress by league rules because they were making another trade, sending http://shots.snap.com/explore/83181...t.com&cp=&asp=Mardy Collins&dfs=10&tol=engageMardy Collins and Zach Randolph to the Clippers. That left the club with just seven players and league rules mandate that eight players dress. According toMarbury, at no point did D'Antoni then ask him if he wanted him to play because of their manpower shortage.

"I just said, 'OK coach, I'll dress,' " Marbury said.

Marbury said he taped his ankles in anticipation of being called upon, especially if players were in foul trouble.

"Refusing to play is when the coach tries to put you in the game and you say you're not going in," Marbury said. "If he asked me to gointo the game, I was going into the game. That's why I taped my ankles."

D'Antoni said he didn't view it as insubordination. When asked if Marbury had committed an act that violated his contract, team president DonnieWalsh said, "I'm not completely clear with what happened. I don't know the situation. He did dress up so we can have eight players. That helped usfor that trade. I'm not lauding that because we're paying the player."

Last night, Marbury told a group of reporters surrounding his locker he had "no comment" on his DNP Friday night.

Marbury admitted he wasn't enthused about playing because he hadn't scrimmaged in two-and-half weeks before Thursday.

D'Antoni bristled when Marbury's name was brought up. "It's done, it's over," D'Antoni said. "I think we made it clear[Friday] and what I said was the truth. That's what happened and we're not looking back."
