Steve & Barry's closing

In the wake of a decision by Steve & Barry's to liquidate, the operators of two local malls are waiting for the final word when the region's two remaining Steve & Barry's will close.

Steve & Barry's LLC, the Port Washington-based retailer, filed documents with the Southern District of New York Bankruptcy Court that indicated it would starting a nationwide liquidation of its 173 stores, including ones in the Walden Galleria and Summit Park Mall. The pending closing comes on the heels of the retailing filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July.

After the summer time filing, Steve & Barry's closed 67 stores including one in Olean.

The 50,000-square-foot Walden Galleria store opened in 2003 and the 45,000-square-foot Summit Park Mall outlet opened two years ago.

I must admit, I'm guilty ofshopping there time to time for small items....especially my running clothes

but I'm guilty of shopping there too. Their clothes actually aren't that bad and theyre mad cheap too.

I went in there about 10x looking for a pair of blue Starburys in sz 10. There were always out of sizes, might cop a "Green Shirts are for Pimps"t-shirt.

When they first opened up i use to go buy those shirts that said funny things. I actually still have one of them, that says "Got Milf?" and has apicture of a women with a baby carriage. Too bad it doesn't fit me anymore.

A week or so ago it was "announced" that Steve & Berry's were going to announce that they're completely shutting down.
