Seems like the blank screens and lost responses are still frequent on here. Is anything changing with that big "acquisition"?

There's a hard deadline of March 25th for the server changes.  Optimization will follow.
Gotcha. I wish that was stickied so I didn't make this thread then...

Lazarus form recovery is a must have add on, especially if you type long post and click the add reply button only to have them disappear into cyberspace

Keep in mind, NikeTalk serves tens of thousands of different people each day and the average user experience is not the same as the experience of someone who spends 2+ hours per day here.

Let's be really negative and say that the white page issue occurs on 2% of page loads.   If that's the case, the overwhelming majority of our users encounter it very rarely and, then, it's an easy fix: just refresh the page.  If you're on here constantly, then it becomes more of a nuisance.   If you submit 30 posts per day, then every few days you'll likely have a post that falls into that 2% and doesn't go through - and that's frustrating.  For what percentage of our total user base will this be a major problem?   It's a very small minority, but a vocal minority - and for the same reason: that minority consists of our most diehard regulars.  If you fall into that category, ipso facto you keep up with the forums on a regular basis.  For that reason, I don't think it's necessary to use a pinned topic to address the issue when a regular post will do.

We are, of course, aware of the issue and it will be addressed, but I hope everyone can keep it in perspective.

We're always looking to improve the experience for ALL of our users.  Our forum regulars are very important to NikeTalk, but we can't always put the needs of that 1% ahead of the other 99.  Development resources are limited and must be prioritized.  We want to make NikeTalk the best it can be, but keep in mind when you complain that your experiences are often atypical.

If the stitching in a running shoe creates a slight stub and that creates a blister for you after running a marathon, that's obviously not ideal - but it doesn't mean that Nike needs to put a warning label on the box and urge all its customers to buy a size up and wear two pairs of socks.

Good points. I meant of the sticky as more of a heads up, but I realize the issue isn't as widespread as it used to be. I have heard from some members that both new and old members can be affected by the blank pages in different ways. The old members may take a longer break until the problem is fixed, some may leave permanently, and others just refrain from posting. New members may leave immediately, because many forums don't have this issue, and others may wonder where/why this is happening. So I just assumed a sticky would do more good than harm.

But thanks for the explanation.

If I create a pinned topic, it replaces NEW content on the front page of that forum EVERY time the user attempts to load that page.  Compare that to the 1 or 2 occurrences per 100 loads (again, an extremely pessimistic estimate) of a blank white page with a clear and self-explanatory remedy.  (Reload the page.)
What's more, when you create a big to do about a relatively minor issue, you're sensitizing users to its presence, which makes it a bigger deal than it actually is and does nothing to accelerate its resolution.

Compare NikeTalk to its competition.  Would you rather load this site 99% of the time or load garbage 100% of the time?

We're doing our best to make the site better, but if someone is SO bent out of shape over this that they go elsewhere, there's nothing I can do about that and, what's more, the actual traffic data don't lend much support to the sort of extreme sensitivity you're describing.  The approach we've taken isn't arbitrary.
