studying for GRE in one week?

i need to take the GRE for graduate school, but ive been delaying it. I've read it takes a couple of weeks for the scores tobe reported to the school. The deadline for all documents is Dec 1st.

the program requires "A minimum cumulative score of 450 on the verbal test, 450 on the quantitative test, and 3.5 on the analytical writing test of theGraduate Record Examination (GRE)."

doesnt seem that hard to obtain those scores, i just graduated from college so its not like i forgot a lot of things.

anybody study for this test in one week? was it worth it?

Doable...Take one now in October for a practice run to see how it goes, Then schedule another in November. You can take the GRE only once per calender month.

My cousin is a pretty smart dude, but he took more time then a week. . Theres alot of vocab you need to know, i would seriously think about taking at least 3weeks to a month. .

GRE is not hard. I wouldn't suggest doing it in a week but it can be done. I studied for 2-3 weeks and scored above 1000, I forget the exact score.Didn't go to hard cause it was more of a formality to getting in my program than a tool used to assess candidates.

It is possible, but I would definitely not recommend it. If the deadline is December 1st, I would take it no later than November 10th. Trust me, you cannot cram for the GRE, you need to develop specific habits and skills. However, if all you need is above a 900 cumulative, then you can probably do it in a week. Getting above 1000 is easy, it depends on if you're trying to get the bare minimum or above the average of the school's applicants (depending on the program, most top schools for master's/phd's have a cutoff of 1200).

i have talked to a couple of people in the program, they say that they did not study for the GRE or they know people in the program who scored low, but stillgot in. i believe my work experience will help getting in as well as the letters of recomendation.

Download the power prep software. It's free. My g/f studied for one night using that stuff. She scored a 660 verbal and a 780 quantative

she hasn't got her writing back yet.

Test was like $150 don't waste your time taking a practice run...

I was in the same shoe as you, OP. I had to take it for my grad program. I only need to score higher than the 60th percentile on one of the sections though. Istarted taking practice tests from KaPlan a week prior to the test. I didn't really put a lot of time into it as I knew I had advantage in math and writingskills. My vocab, however, was a joke. I did decent enough in the math and writing portions to get into my grad program.

Where can one find this free software??

Also, I took that Kaplan test in Atlanta last spring semester. I keep going back and forth if I should take the GREtho :/ I think I'll be good if I have a month of hard-core studying for it. My grad school of choice requires a 1000. The verbal section just killed methough....
