Yo what up NT

I'm interning for a nation wide corp that I will not disclose, and I got a pretty cool project this summer that I would like some help with. Im working in the sports dept. and I have to analyze the previous events this company has supported (local or national) and sold merchandise for (at select stores) such as NBA All Star game, MLB All Star game, Kentucky Derby, NASCAR, Indy 500, etc.

What I need help with is thinking of events they haven't done yet, that they should do and would profit from big time. Don't worry about calculating profit or nothing, I'll do that in the end. I just need a nice big list of good events. Any ideas help, but try to keep it a national event. Nothing that occurs outside the U.S.

Don't worry about repeating answers, if anything I can tally up whichever events get the most hype. Hit me up on my email at jcasillas5@hotmail.com

Thanks

^Word. I'm not sure we should be helping you with your job. Almost equivalent to solving NTers homework for them.

With that said a night out with the athletes event where you get to go to strip clubs, brothels, and mingle with porn stars or have all of that in one place.

this is a multi-billion dollar operation right? surely they can afford compensation for us as outside consultants or as a research partnership. i could use an 07 nba all star tee right about now.

If you want something like a major national event them I say a America F1 or Touring events. Since we dont have those.

how are we supposed to help you without knowing the company
at least give us a hint like they do on other forums:
Reebok/nike/addidas
goldman/morgan/merril

I would like to know the company but I would help regardless. What's holding me up is the method you're conducting the survery, why don't you set it up though a site like other NTers in the past? A lot of extra work to write out an email brah.

I can't release the company name due to a disclosure agreement I signed in my contract. I'm sure you guys can understand a bit of professionalism and the sense that I would like a full time offer at the end of the summer, just know its a mass retailer that is nationwide and can be labeled as a department store. So far some good ideas I have gotten from people are:

UFC
NBDL
Wrestlemania
F1
Rosebowl
Etc

As far as compensation goes, I'll let you know what the results are if I pitch your idea and they go for it.

Those are just basic examples to get the ball rolling. If you don't feel like emailing that's cool, but if you got the time I would appreciate the convenience.

You want us to just list sporting events? This isn't so much a survey as you want us to do your work for you and thene-mail you so you don't have to be bothered to check this thread again.

Not to mention, without listing everything the store already covers, we're just kind of making guesses for you. Check out TV ratings for events and see what's bringing in high numbers that your company isn't involved with. I'm not trying to insult you, but this doesn't seem that hard. List all the sports you can think of, college/pro/whatever... or just go to ESPN and start writing down every sport you see. Then, go through and write down each championship game, every major event (a race or match or whatever), each big rivalry game, if there's an all-star game, etc.

Try to realize I am asking for suggestions, not for you to do the work for me. My job is to take an idea, project it, plan it, forecast it, analyze it (cost/benefit), and have enough data to support my recommendation when I pitch it. It's not something that anyone can do without the resources the company provides. Also realize that I'm not creating an event that's nationwide. I'm taking an existing event (that a lot of people are familiar with across the U.S. and would buy merchandise for) that isn't marketed at our stores, and determining whether we should or shouldn't get into that market/event. Currently we offer NBA, NFL, NCAA, NHL, MLS, & MLB official licensed gear, year round and every season. I can work with vendors to get licensed for other things as well, but that's where your suggestions come into play. All-Star game licensing is seperate, NASCAR licensing is seperate, Olympics licensing is seperate. Which is why we don't/can't offer the merchandise year round and/or every year. What additional event/tournament/sport/league is worth getting into and licensed for? That's the final question in simple terms.

Please read the Previous post regarding "doing my work for me". Also, the reason email is more convinient is because I can't exactly be logging on to niketalk while I'm at work. If you haven't guessed yet, I'm at the HQ level and a stupid decision such as checking niketalk during work Is the type of thing that's frowned upon. I will definitely be checking this post again obviously (I'm on nike talk all the time when I'm home) but the key word I used was convenience. Regardless, thanks for the quick responses NTers

Worked in the sports industry as well. These were probably the most profitable in terms of activating on a more commercial clientele.

PGA: Ryder Cup, Wells Fargo Championship, US Open, Masters, ATT Pebble Beach Pro-Am, PGA Championship
Boat Racing: Americas Cup
NBA All-Star Game
MLB All Star Game
NFL Pro Bowl
Super Bowl
Tennis: US Open, etc... you probably would target American tournaments

All I can think of off the top. You probably get this already, golf has the majority of events here, but thats largely because of the type of market our firm was catering to.
