My mom has an unlimited data plan
My brother uses it but he has 3g

If I were to get a 4g phone would it cost the same?

If not can I turn 4g off?

it should cost the same. I dont think there's a different data plan for 4g than 3g

t-mobile calls 100mb of 4g, 4g. But really with phone limitations its really like 2.25 g. Then on a prepaid plans when u go thru 100 mb @ "4g" speed, they drop you down to "2g" which is really like .5g smh. i got got by tmobile but there is wifi everywhere i go so i dont complain too much.

its hspa+ and its a joke compared to verizon lte.
in honesty i use the iphone so i got edge and the difference is noticable but not worth the extra money to pay for "high speed internet"

So tell me why my phone gets faster d/l u/l speeds compared to my coworker on Verizon's LTE? My youtube loads faster, webpages load faster, %#+% downloads faster (all in comparison w/ his and my homeboy's phones"
HSPA+, tho not "true 4G" is technically classified as 4G.

For the price, u can't go wrong OP. I have no problems w/ my service except in mountain areas and when we had that bad storm w/ the earthquake on the east coast. I said do it

its classified at 4g because the speeds are comparable to 4g on a horrible day

I guess that he has an older phone which isn't classified as 4G LTE though my boy who got the Thunderbolt's speeds aren't blow u out of the water fast either. But of course w/ Verizon buyin up the competition as they did, they should have a larger network and more to work with. AT&T did the same thing but aint doin *$@ w/ it

That's one thing I never got about TMO, why don't they buy the smaller competition to expand their network like ATT and Verizon

Either way, I'm not complainin, I can download a 100mb mixtape in about 3mins on my phone

AT&T and T-Mobile classify it as 4G for advertising to the uneducated public.  No one else does.

They basically add a front facing camera and it's instantly 4G.

It is noticeably faster than 3G when you're in a HSPA+ zone, but it's not insanely faster.
