Teen pregnancy down in Asia-Pacific, except Philippines – report

While teen pregnancy is down in the Asia Pacific region, a United Nations Population Fund report found that adolescent fertility is up the Philippines.

Citing data from 2013, the report says was that one in 10 Filipinas between the ages of 15 and 19 is already a mother or is pregnant with their first child. Teen pregnancy has been on the rise in the country since 2000.

The report also found that 15 percent of adolescent girls who had sex before the age of 15 reported that their first sexual encounter was forced.
It also noted how gender norms in the country push young men to seek sex in their teens.

"Expectations that men should be sexually experienced, or a perception that their status depends on their sexual conquests, contributes to risky sexual behavior, such as early onset of sexual behavior and an increased number of partners," it said.

According to UNFPA's Asia-Pacific regional director Yoriko Yasukawa... "We need to abandon once and for all the idea that leaving young people in ignorance is going to stop them from having sex or that talking about it is going to make them have sex," Yasukasawa said.

And why is the Philippines victim of that sector of tourism

When you hear about that stuff, it's almost always Philippines. It's not Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan

I was reading some **** about that. Dudes were going over there shooting up clubs, having kids they will never ever meet.

This is an important topic but of course OP killed it before it started.

Wassup with Australian men going over there to have sex with little girls? That **** makes me sick to my stomach. There's villages of fatherless children over there growing up in poverty who might unfortunately repeat the cycle.

sad to say it isnt only girls

sidenote, i went to boracay (beach in the philippines) and on the ride to the hotel, there was a sign in the shuttle bus with a picture of kids, and it said "We are not the tourist attraction". this place is pretty mainstream so it probably doesnt happen much, unless some rich dudes have their private islands like on some Taken ****. but to think about the rest of the country, there must be special places for that ****. pretty sickening.

You guys implied that i meant everyone within the whole land mass. No where did i specify that.

That comment was meant towards the parents that put their daughters/let their daughters get into that position

Not surprising at all.

A lot of these kids being sold in to child porn or doing it as a job. That some sickos would go to the country for it or dudes raping them isn't far fetched.
