I have been wondering the same thing for the last several years.  Heck I wonder what all these people do for a living who are not famous but have courtside seats.  You would have someone like me who would actually be interested in the game, but when you see it live they are texting or whatever.  Even in football it trips me out when I see fireman ED at the Jets away games.  Has me thinking I went into the wrong career field or just do not have the right connections and definitely not enough bread.
