The Bicycle Thread

Gimme some context of the ride, are there a lot of climbs with brutal gradients? Did you stop frequently during the ride?

6 hours is a long time to just cover 44 miles

yeah the last 10 miles we went on a mountain bike trial, none of us were geared for it. If you take the normal bike trail along the American river it's mostly flats until you get to folsom, from there it will be roughly ~2-3 miles of hills. We stopped to have a few beers along the way, and the mountain bike trail took us 4 hours to ride that 10 miles  Normally when you go to folsom you try to go to Beals point, as you can see in the map we went AROUND the lake (which was new the me) to Peninsula Campgrounds

Damn, brutal grade for me. Anything over 10% for an extended period is rough. But love that fresh pavement.

Don’t know how you guys do it. This was my longest ride ever and my body is just messed up. Had to take tons of breaks at the end too. I guess I am more of a short distance rider.

it's really not that hard, just gotta ride consistently to improve your fitness. you're on a road bike too, so climbing shouldn't be that difficult

So this was without a doubt the biggest ride I’ve done. One our friends in our ride group was on break from school and he wanted something epic with the group. What a push. Super happy with my effort and what I accomplished. Definitely won’t have too many more of these now that the summer heat is starting. So weekend rides will be in the 35-50 range with way less climbing. But this was epic. The classic cars were an added bonus that pulled up at the pie shop when we stopped at the turn around point.

that is impressive, covering 130 miles in 7 hours is damn near on pace with the pros

Cavendish with stage win #33, I think he might break Eddy Merckx's record this Tour

Damn man, my 45 miles means nothing now after that post up there. Lol. But man you are killing it. Today’s weather was just impeccable. I could have ridden the coast all damn day but didn’t have the time so got in what I could. But will definitely be getting a lot of miles in this week as the weather will be this all week.
