I get both sides of the Mo’nique debate.

One one hand, CTG put her out there on that DOTD stage and ridiculed her. But the argument could really be made that she made a misjudgment in the verbiage that she used (gender bias and color bias). Then when she came to the breakfast club, the questions he was asking her seemed to have shed a lot of light on the situation, so had he have done his diligence on the matter rather than biting at the opportunity to go in on her, things could have played out differently.

But on the other hand, I do see how the argument of relevancy can be made against Mo’nique. Fact of the matter is she hasn’t done a great deal, as of recent, to garner much attention to her comedic prowess. Sure, she can carry the legend card, but that’s only going to get you but so far after a while if you’re not keeping the spotlight on you. CTG pointed out how it could legitimately have been a case of good business vs bad business.

Ultimately Mo’nique just has to show and prove the same way the rest of the world does. Work hard, prove your worth, and get your reward.

Mal out here on some hotep s*** for that Monique stuff.

I CANNOT stand ****** that make these sort of takes and can't explain the rationale behind it. Joe kept asking Mal to explain himself...and he'd just keep talking in circles without offering any sort of analysis. Just 100 different variations of "Mo'nique was right".

Mal is fake woke

When was Monique poppin? Precious? That wasn't exactly a blockbuster. How many actors in Hollywood are in big movies or win awards and are no longer relevant ten years later. Who would guess Will Smith would be in the spot he's in ten years ago. It's what have you done lately.

and what is right about what Monique said? She's crying about what she was offered. She doesn't care about anyone else. How can anyone even fall for that.

What does Monique do for black america? When has she spoken up? She's had every opportunity to speak out about something, anything. And now she's speaking out because she was ONLY offered half a million.

And the goal is to seem funny, not crazy or bi-polar.

You're only worth what you can negotiate it.

Here's the tough pill people need to swallow...this world revolves around MONEY. If Mo'nique was worth what she think she was...someone would have given her what she's asking for already...because it means she's going to make that money back AND some. "They" love money WAYYYYY more than "they" hate black women or anyone for that matter. Netflix isn't the only content provider. HBO hasn't swopped in and offered Mo'nique that type of bag...Showtime hasn't done it...Starz hasn't done it...Amazon hasn't done it...Hulu hasn't. Flix and all those other obscure providers haven't done it either.

Nike gave Lebron James 90 million dollars before he played a single game. Why? Because they knew he was going to make them back WAYYYY more than 90 million dollars.

So either everyone's colluding against her...or it's time to come back to reality. People keep running their mouths about the business side of **** without knowing what they are talking about. If you're an agent...you're not walking your client into business meetings at Netflix with your argument being "I did this back when...and so and so got this...so I should get this". You have charts, diagrams, infographics, etc. that display the metrics of what your reach is, who your target audience is, etc.

Everyone is fair game...white men, white women, black men, black women, everyone. Every representation you can think of has had examples made out of them in the entertainment industry. There is a very much a cold cold GAME at play in the corporate world. Don't ****ing play it if you can't handle the rules.

Netflix has all sorts of stand up specials by a diverse array of comedians. Monique's just an arrogant veteran who wants people to bow before her but she hasn't put in that type of work to garner that respect and financial value.

Even her argument about choosing not to promote Precious because it wasn't in her contract is insane. Everybody promotes the film they work on! Unless there's some serious emergency, you help promote the film, especially a film that brought you so much acclaim. That situation really highlights who she is as a person. It's all about her.

I stop listening when they start talking about sports

Joe got the Mavs situation all wrong.

I did laugh when they asked if Victor Cruz was retired.

Joe when he said Rory will try to continue going at you for 37 minutes to get you back

And Mal was saying the truth about Ak. So he did that to Herb :smh: Someone he met. Then he wonders why people feel some type of way. You don't play that game.

Mal was super wrong on that Monique ****. He sounded dumb.

Rory’s made a few light skin jokes, that **** sounds racist as ****. Not sure why they keep letting that **** fly.

New camera guy nice. Got mad angles and gets the video out in 24 hours.

This is a fact. I don’t follow Ak or his page so it was news to me that dude would say some dumb stuff like that. I used to be baffled at how dude still has a lane in all of this, but then it dawned on me that the internet is really a weird place and there are cornball cats out there who think in a similar fashion as Ak. Someone on the pod hit the nail on the head (and it’s becoming something that I notice more and more) when they said that you can tell when someone’s never been punched in the face.
