The Combat Jack Show Thread

I wouldn't say she should ship but get focus shuttle definitely be on movies

I think Kevin Hart if anything is proof you can do both. He does nationwide tours and does multiple movies a year.

As a comedian your bread and butter is touring, because you can always get bags doing that. When you aren't hot doing movies, you can tour. It might be in the same size venues, but it's good work.

While she's hot, she needs to stay doing comedy.

Because frankly, her roles and acting are going to get old with people. She doesn't seem versatile enough. She's the ratchet friend and that's how she seems to have been typecast.

Kev stand ups are getting less and less funny, even his roles in movies are getting less and less funny.
When I was watching The Last OG, I realized Tiffany wasn't really that funny. Idk how much time she has left in the light but it's dwindling

Too many people think that comedians are only relevant or "hot" by doing movies. Hollywood is so fickle when it comes to black comics you can't base being relevant by who they decide to push. It's a lot of comedians that make great money on the road because they have a real fan base. It's not that fickle mainstream crowd that only likes you when Hollywood likes you.

Corey Holcomb said on his show he wants to mentor her and help her with her stand-up, she should take him up on that.

Kev really not that funny in general once you start noticing his tropes, cues, etc. I think you can have this perspective towards most people but his just really stick out to me

As far as his movie roles, right or wrong he basically been playing/taking the same character roles for years. **** can just get boring after a while

I think he's gotten so big that Idk if he has a decline coming even with a dip in quality. Unless he does something worse than how he handle the old tweets situation he's gonna linger on for a while

Kev will eventually die out when somebody more talented and/or marketable shows up, but I have a hard time even thinking of who would be next at this point in terms of youngish upcoming black male comedian.

Jerrod Carmichael and Michael Che are the only two I can think of that are already kinda part of the mainstream machine but neither of them dudes are funny, Kev is better on every level. Duval and Corey are funnier than Kev but they're too old and won't play the hollywood games. Blackson is old and he's even more of a stereotype than Tiffany. Lil Rel can't pull broads in Lenox Square mall apparently

Even though none of them do stand up as far as I know, DC or Shiggy or one of them Instagram comedians might be next to pop. If they're smart they're taking acting lessons.

And yeah, Tiffany is likeable, but she isn't that funny.

Kevin won't die out for reasons not of his own doing. I can see him being popular for as long as he wants. Contrary to what a certain group of people think, people actually think his stands ups are funny. Except the last two. They were pretty meh

Nah Kev was definitely funny. Maybe not as much now, but it's just over time he's been overexposed, the act gets played. Happens to alot of folks.

It's only been two years since Everyday Struggle started and already I'm legit tired of hearing Joe Budden's name.

I see Kevin is trying to go the serious route now with the movies though, definitely a good idea.

Damn Jerrod Carmichael is hilarious to me ..... but so is Kevin Hart lol (haven’t seen his latest special)

DC looks to have the best future of all the up and comers , funny , young and multi talented. Dude can actually really sing .

But yeah no matter who’s next , Kev is not going anywhere . It’s been his “last year on top” for like 5 years now and his numbers are still going up.

michael che has one of the funniest specials out, michael che matters is hilarious

dc is def being groomed to be the next kevin hart

dc is def doing standup and doing the 85 south show

85 south show is def the next podcast to get a joe budden type podcast deal

kevin hart is just like drake there’s no way you can do movies and all this other stuff all year round and still have time to perfect an hour special

so he’s either not writing his specials or he’s not putting real effort into them which I think is a combination of both, plus his jokes and specials are super formulaic

Really is a dope idea thinking about it, dude's a good comedy influence. Patrice once said Corey gave him the confidence and freedom to do his comedy how he wanted.

Word up. Good to see homie finally got a chance to get back to his country.

Looking forward to the new episodes my g. Happy founders day in advance as well :smokin

Sure was. Them not wanting to be there was way too obvious and I really hope that “I don’t care” thing only lasts for that episode. It got pretty annoying to hear free the second time it was said.

Pretty sure tomorrow will be good though (or super terrible)—with the R. Kelly doc out.
