The Combat Jack Show Thread

Yeah that’s all I got from what Mal said was that it was just shady for Diddy to do that to Mase

Did you listen to the episode today?

He actually doesn't seem to understand publishing

All that fluff doesn't matter because these white executives can just say the same thing about the artists Diddy was championing for during that little speech he gave.

So if you're going to be upset at the white man for his business practices you better not be doing the same thing.

Puff a snake. I wanna appreciate all he’s done but time and time again he’s ******* his artists

Mal is an idiot with a capital I. Him not understanding why a record company/Puff wouldn't want to just give back publishing. As if they're not in it to make money. Parks having to say it's an investment. It's the music business. I can tell when they start becoming annoyed and try to move the conversation along, because all of them will say something, hoping he will get it. :smh:

Does he talk to Biggs at all?

Spotify is going all in on podcast, it's smart, because it will differentiate it from Apple and the other streaming services.

There a certain cats In this thread that hate being wrong, and love being loud and wrong. It's okay I promise.

I still think it's crazy that Apple could have cornered the podcast market, but instead just stayed hands off. Apple has bigger fish to fry of course, but that's a whole industry and they were the only people on the ground floor. They just let it happen.

not surprised cook did

This is basically a post reiterating that the Music business is Grimy & the griminess is the norm.

Puff took a risk, what record label & executive doesn't take a risk signing artist, doesn't mean they should continue to hold on to the pub 20 years down the road.
For some reason this thing made me think about that New Edition series where they got a garbage deal as kids and Bivens grows up to be an exec and gives out the same garbage deals.

Why wouldn't they hold on to his publishing?

Mase produced one album, a retirement album and a Michael Jordan come back album.

He didn't follow through on his end of the contract he signed, so why should Puff look out? Would Lyor or Jimmy Iovine give Mase back his masters after the ******** he pulled?

If your publicly speaking about how artist should love eachother & respect each other and how much unity Hiphop should have, you should take that step in making things right. If this was another artist i would go benefit of the doubt.

We have TWENTY YEARS of former badboy artist speaking out about their contracts and how they were robbed.

and again, if this were Black Rob, The Lox, G Dep, 112....anyone else

Mase is the last person who should be speaking.

Dude is swindling mutha****as just like he did when he was on the preacher hustle for a decade. He knew people would start whining for him and attacking Puff. He's using the situation to try and get what he wants.

Anyone who knows that dude knows he's full of ****.

Mase has been proven to be a habitual liar and done funny business himself no doubt, I don't think anyone is caping for mase. It's just corny of puff to be doing all this unity talk and still holding on & profiting off bad Business practices.

Son Puff literally a billionaire, his party overhead over the past year or two probably surpassed what he's making off Mase pub, So if i come and offer you 2 milli for my **** back and you deny it, only for you to be on stage acting like an advocate for proper treatment of black artist i would have been PISSED too.

And honestly Mase ain't do **** but make a IG post

I need proof that Mase got a huge payday and was able to run to Atlanta and Puff was cool with that. I can’t see Puff who is rich and the devil just letting him run off with his money.

And how much could his advance have even been? Harlem World just went 4x, Double Up went platinum with barely any promo.

Puff a billionaire, he could sell Mase his music back. Sell it for the 2 mil and whatever he supposedly ran off with.

I don't think Mal doesn't understand why a company wouldn't give the publishing back, he's simply stating that it's bad business & grimy.

Puff went on that Grammy party stage and talked LOUDLY about these record labels signing young talent & robbing them, for us to find out he still got Mase publishing til this day, even after Mase tried to buy it back.

So it really pissed me off that they really sat there & tried to defend puff as if it's any different from other record labels robbing the artist.

Just like with the Hov NFL situation...we can't talk all this pro black **** and then justify funny style **** in the pursuit of capitalism.

Both Hov and Puff are Hov and Puff because they are very smart businessmen. Which is cool. But I don't get why all the pro-black sauce is put on **** when obviously ****** moves are still putting capitalism first.

Puff ain't hurting for that Mase publishing and even if you look at it from the perspective of him doing documentaries on it and using it for whatever, y'all can redo the paperwork to where you are compensated for creating "Ma$e" the persona, image, etc. and Mason is compensated for actually being the creative lyrical mind behind "Ma$e" and "Puff Daddy" for that matter. It don't gotta be one or the other.

****** don't know if they wanna be pro-black or just the richest ***** in the room...

It's amazing people look at it any other way than this.

Justifying soaking up every morsel of a ****** creativity because "business". Lol Puffy ain't hurting for that ****.

Unless it was into the triple digit millions (which it wasn't because from what I see, he was cooling off around Double Up anyway), he's likely recouped that pub advance just off of 20 years of Harlem World streams alone especially when he does the documentaries and ****; all the Bad Boy 20th anniversary promo run they went on, the movie.

Puff wrong on this one.

Respect him and Baby but I would have a hard time expecting a business deal with either of em not to go left :lol

Because he offered him back the $2 Mill he "ran off" with on top of the fact that that **** probably recouped over time anyway.
