Honestly, can’t even summarize it
. But dude was a former low key Detroit kingpin for some time. With a wild run. The interview is a hell of a watch so far: Dudes life story seems unbelievable at this point, but apparently all true. Everything from mundane, good natured kid…tied to a crazy family. To wild flips and insane luck in drug dealing. To politicians as Plugs. To kidnaps/violence and the effects of the game overall…and apparently something to do with the music business etc.

He has some joints but I never understood the pedestal he’s placed on

Frank came out at the right time. He, The Weeknd, Miguel all had different sounds.

Frank definitely isn’t overrated. Dude had a great run.
Took his time with every project. He was always calculated in his movements
Those dudes ushered in a new genre of R&B, after years of mess from dudes like Sean Garrett.
The Dream, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, etc even if not great technical singers, dudes creativity and song making ability definitely stood the test. All of their stuff stood the test of time.
There’s a reason a guy like Bryson Tiller couldn’t catch fire in a bottle again after that Trap Soul Era.
Brent Faiyaz, DVSN, The Weeknd, Miguel, Frank, Daniel Caesar, all these cats are legit

I just don’t think Frank Has had the output / consistency to be placed in that legendary status that people place him in . 1-2 amazing albums and for the most part nothing else in over a decade not enough imo . (My same argument with Lauryn)
I think people fall in love with the aesthetic / mystique of certain artists and prop them up .

It’s like the Biggie syndrome. Biggie literally was mainstream for only 3 years. From 1994-1997.
Some people just did stuff so legendary that it seemed like a decade.
Aaliyah dropped 3 albums. Aaliyah’s run was from 1994-2000. 6 years.
Impact can go beyond the amount of work you put out.
Otis Redding, and Sam Cooke. Sam Cooke had a 6 year run. Died at 33. “A change gone come” dropped in 1964. Cooke died in 1964.
Otis Redding died at 26. Released one album while alive. Dropped it in 1964, died in 1967.
Some people are just transcendent
Biggie 24, Otis Redding 26, Aaliyah 21, Sam Cooke 33. Lauryn’s peak was from 96-99. 3 years. She was about done by 26 but still revered even though miseducation dropped 25 years ago, and her MTV unplugged was in like 2001.
(Not saying Frank is in their LEAGUE) but I feel like he had a good enough impact and his music can be played forever.

Frank has two albums and a few tapes spread out over 8 years
@ that being a “run”. What he has put out is fire but how would we judge him if he dropped an album with the same frequency of like The Weeknd and he had to run that sound into the ground like The Weeknd had to do his. Lowkey the true benefit artists like him Andre 3k D Angelo Lauryn Hill get from falling back like that. You don’t get overexposed/stale and it makes your highs seem that much higher
