It doesn't. The Knicks aren't the only fanbase. But it doesn't happen with every fanbase.
Id say...5 max...probably more like 3.
And beyond that, its not the team(s) its the cities...regardless of sport, the fans in that city think its acceptable behavior to act like this, and it's not.

In all fairness the fandom for Michael Jackson was significantly higher than anything we see from even the most elite celebrities today.
But he is 1 of 1.
It has always been this case though. You don't remember how little girls were for Immature, Bow Wow, B2K when we were growing up. Posters on Walls, Mall Meet and Greets. etc...
Those aren't even A list celebrities, they are just black so I thought of them first.
But it's easier for us to recognize it now since we are adults now.

Yeah Mike is who I was thinking of, that's why I thought maybe it was always the case. But 1 of 1 like you said for adults. Little girls will always be little girls though I guess.
