When are ppl ok with the overbearing white sports dad?


Just curious.

I doubt there was this much discussion and outrage for Marinovich, Elway, Manning etc.

Now marinovich is the prime example of when you push your kid so much from an early age that it backfires. I think andre aggassi's dad is also a negative example since it seems like he was kind of abusive as well.

while there certainly is some racial component to the backlash Lavar is getting, some of you are making it seem like that is the main factor here

Right but his range is disguising something a tad bit more troubling with his game. There is a reason why he chooses to shoot that far, and that's my biggest reservation about his game. And I love Lonzo, and he's been a great college player but I'm 50/50 on him as a pro

He's made like one midrange jumper this season. Everything with him is either a long 3 or a layup. This is an issue because his handle isn't good enough to break his man down off the dribble and he hasn't played a lot in PnR, a staple in the NBA.

Basically he takes a ton of long 3s because he has trouble getting to the rim off the bounce, due to a lack of handles and overall "game." Shooting that far should never be a staple in your game like it is with in terms of projecting for the next level. It's actually pretty alarming.

Didnt one of those videos (cant remember which) say something like he only pulls up when going to the left and if he goes right hes driving to the hoop? He needs to work on that but as good and athletic as he is i doubt thatd be too difficult for him.

Lavars just an obnoxious father living vicariously through his kids. He basically said his son is better than the 2x reigning MVP, and he hasn't played a single professional game yet. His own kids seem embarrassed by his behavior.

He was quoted that he could take MJ while in college.

dude averaged 2.2 points for one year @ washington state while jordan was in the nba dropping 35 a night.

Also simple math says his 3 kids will not all make the nba.

and even if they all do, they will not all be stars.

unfortunately, his father cares about $$$$$ a little too much

the first red flag I heard was each of his kids are an investment that will pay off in 20 years

Chino Hills won the state championship and was awarded a national championship last year.

May be, I don't know.

I just know that his technique on his jumper would make it virtually impossible for him to shoot going right on the NBA level. Hell he cant even do it in College.

It'll be hard as hell creating shots off the dribble with his technique, part of why he keeps going further and further back to shoot so he has some space.

So not only is his mechanics not ideal, he can't really put the ball on the deck and create for himself off the bounce to begin with. Lot of straight line stuff along with extremely far 3's, shots that unless you're steph, NBA coaches won't allow you to shoot with regularity.
