if you re-did the 2014 draft knowing what you know now, the Texans would take Derek Carr but he only played at Fresno State, his brother was a bust, had a bad bowl game, etc so he slipped into round 2

hitting on a QB is more important than any position in all of sports

they probably take Mack first overall

Let me ask you this question. Who shoulders the blame for these kinds of decisions? Is it the front office? Is it owner?
We can't predict everyone's success year in and year out, but for an organization who has consistently missed like the Browns at what point do the fans stop going to games?

I think it starts with the owner for constantly picking the wrong people in the front office

It really is amazing how bad the Browns have been as a franchise, they miss on almost every 1st rounder

Multiple 1sts the last couple of drafts.. and missed on multiple dudes in the top 10

so you are telling me Clowney is a franchise player? he's played like someone you hit on in the 3rd or 4th round

he was the #1 overall pick, he should be having a Von Miller type impact and the Texans still have no QB

Derek Carr>Clowney and its not even close

Forgot who I was talking to. :lol

Carry on.

I don't get why they took him as a 3-4 team.. even when he's playing you're not gettting his maximum value

What does that mean? I just made a valid point and that's all you got?

You are basically justifying Clowney was the right pick at #1 overall

I think there's more value in having a long term QB than DE. Presuming you then make the right choices in protecting and equipping that QB.

gonna need the Bucs to take the Korean kicker from Norte Dame in the 1st round

Winston
Clowney
Fisher
Luck
Newton
Bradford
Stafford
Long
Russell
Williams

that's the last 10 #1 picks (not including Goff). Houston missed on both DE's they took :lol

well Mario wasnt bad. i shouldn't say that. not fair. he's made pro bowls. not dominant though over a long period of time.

Only 4 of those guys are surefire 'hits' & they're all quarterbacks

Since the idea is to maximize every pick you have, and you don't plan on finding yourself at the top of the draft each year if you intend to keep your job, nailing the best possible quarterback selection with your first pick has to be the move you make. It brings more stability to your team than anything else you could do if you do it correctly.

Take it from someone who watched his favorite team use it's only top overall pick in history on JaMarcus Russell.

top 5, you go: QB, LT, pass rusher (could be DE, OLB or DT) or right WR (big and fast)

CB is also there (but again gotta be big and fast.. worst case can switch to safety)

the Buccaneers would disagree. kicker is always an option.

for a good while that kicking duo was the best thing they had going

The can't miss narrative is flawed too

Reggie Bush was can't miss

Clowney was can't miss

Just because they were great in college doesn't mean it translate to the pros

Can't miss is not really a thing.. No. Such thing as can't miss obviously.

Yup. Everyone said bush was the next Marshall Coming out that draft and mjd turned out to be the better player.

I'm really curious as to what Philly would of done if LA took Wentz.

I'm sure they would of taken Goff and @StillIn729  world would be upside down.

I would of still passed on both that high.

The Eagles knew they were getting Wentz, 100% certain the Rams gave them the heads up before they made the trade

I liked Goff too but now I'm happy as hell the Eagles got Wentz, I'm having serious doubts Goff has it which is mainly because of hard knocks

Chance to draft a franchise QB >

coaches loved wentz, supposedly (multiple visits and workouts.. even had the owner in on some).. they also supposedly knew who they were getting when they traded up, but then you have the league not wanting picks spoiled

but they say they were high on both.. team essentially wanted to go the mcnabb route get a guy and then build

retain young talent (ertz, lane and vinny), bring in the right guys with over spending (brooks and McLeod)

Philly is good at developing QBs
They made Nick Foles look legitimate before he went to the Rams :lol
