They made the rule worse after Dez's "non catch ".

Before it was "secure the ball, two feet down and make a move common to the game (football move)". Now it's "secure the ball, two feet and remain upright long enough. " The reason for switching the rule is to give refs more control as "upright long enough" is completely subjective.
