same as people who don't live in a city but root for that city's team?

Its different for me. In the pros there is roster stability so you can like players in that team and get attached to the team.
College players come and go in a hurry.
I am a Mavs fan and I will openly admit that I like the Mavs because of Dirk.

i hear you on that aspect. and i'll admit, michigan or even georgetown (the school i went to) blowing a big game will never ruin my night more than for an hour or two. but the pats, sox, or bruins blowing a big game will **** up my universe.
 
I find it weird when you go to a big D1 school but root for Bama or some ****

I faintly remember some one in here that said they root for the Ducks even tho they went to Oregon State. I thought it was funny but I understand how loyalties are formed at a early age.

He's a diehard Ducks fan but UO didn't offer electrical engineering.

I did/do always want Mizzou to prosper though. Well not really these days with the ****** up **** that's been going on
