I wonder why nike does not let lebron get his own symbol without a nike sign like the air jordan since the jordan 7
there was no visable nike sign except for the insole. for some reason i just thought of that because i noticed that jordan was the only athlete
under nike that does not have a shoe with just there logo without a nike sign besides jordan brand members

Nothing much to it really, I think Jordan 8-11 still had nike air on insoles of the shoes, it wasn't until the 12s when the nike logo went bye bye. By that time Jordan had a lot notoriety, the shoes were immensely popular and that Jumpman logo became so identifiable. So, it had its own spin off I guess.

Lebron on the other hand, who knows, maybe.

I think Iverson sort-of went away from the Reebok logo, didn't he?

I think it all comes down to the designers option, IMO.

the air jordan line had the jumpman to fall back on.

LeBron has no real well known logo especially since it's changed so many times since the air zoom generation.

the L23 logo, the lions head, the dunkmans, the new crown LJ logo.

this.

lebron has changed his logo too many times already. a lebron shoe just wouldn't look right without a nike sign on them anymore. same with the kobes. i can see a durant shoe going away with it though since he is still in his early numbered shoe stages.

From a purely business standpoint, Nike would want the Swoosh to be the 'most' identifiable logo on the shoe. If Lebron and Nike parted ways, it would be helluva lot easier to reissue the shoes with the Swoosh intact while replacing all other LBJ branding with something more generic. Similar to how Adidas reissues the Kobe/Crazy 8.

if lebron has a signature symbol in the future i believe it will be either the lion or the dunkman

NT asks for Lebron's logo to replace the swoosh.
Nike replaces the swoosh with Lebron's logo.
Nike begins retroing Lebrons without the swoosh.

Circle of life.

I bet you if they do away with the Swoosh and just use a Lebron logo, everyone will complain, a la "WE WANT NIKE AIR ON THE BACK!"

Jordan, being not only a dominant player, business man as well, had/has way more  pull then the athletes of this generation, so there was not going to be any of this not allowing Jordan to make sure his sig stands out on his shoe.  Keep in mind something many people do not know is Nike spent (just about literally) everything they had in the bank to get Jordan to sign with them.  On top of that Jordan bought his logo from Nike in 1997 (hence Jordan Brand and now Jordan walls at all shoe stores now).

do people complain about the nike air on the back of a pair of jordan 12s or 7s no because they never had it if the lebron 10 does not have
a nike air on it there will be nothin to complain about because it wasnt part of the design just like jordans 7 and up

I dont think you guys are looking at it from a business perspective - its all about $.

I imagine the complete lack of the nike logo or the swoosh on Air Jordans was not Nikes idea, but Michael Jordans.  Why wouldnt Nike want their logo on one of their own shoes?  Let alone their most popular shoe?

Jordan "becoming" his own brand was not something Nike wanted and I'd be willing to bet Jordan threatened to tie up any future releases of his shoes in legal red tape had this request not been granted.

Why would he do that?  Well simply put - for more money.  Sure, Nike makes alot of money of Air Jordans, in fact they make a ton of money off Air Jordans.  But they probably make a few percentage points less now that their "branding", their "logo" is no longer involved in the sale of this shoe.

To put the Nike Air on the back of an Air Jordan again would be Michael Jordan saying, "ok nike, you can have a little more money, and I'll take a little less"..

You really think thats gonna happen?  No.

Do you think Nike learned from that and Lebron James contract with Nike strictly forbids any and all types of what Jordan has done?  Of course.

Huh?

Anyway I said before I think the Lebron line can stand on its own and doesn't need the swoosh but I'm not sure if we will ever see that again

That does make since and sounds accurate

The lion def looks dope on some of the shoes. Like the tongue on the 8 for example, but it wouldnt have looked so well on earlier sigs. the jumpman is without a doubt the best logo in the history of logos
