The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

I'm tired of DC the paper Champion

Hope Rumble runs him a fade and brings life back to the division

Just out of curiosity, if rumble wins will he be a paper champ too?

Im a huge jones fan but the guy is his worst enemy. Does stupid ish after stupid ish. but yet dc is the paper champ when dc got screwed by Jones and his stupidity. I legit felt bad for dc wasting a **** ton of money on a training camp and not getting paid the way he was expecting.

I want rumble to win, not a big dc fan. But the disrespect towards him is real lol

Anderson says he wants to fight conor around in the high 170's.. not for a belt but just as a style matchup because "conor is intelligent stand up fighter and interesting martial artist"

Instant money fight

In short, no. People only consider DC a 'paper champ' bc of the reasons @getrichquik1987 said. Since he lost to Jones, and then got the belt after JJs repeated runs with trouble, people don't see it as 'legit'. Which I understand and am apart of the group somewhat because Jones is my guy. However, he's earned it and has an impressive body of work with only 1, so in that regard I consider it legit.

With all that said, WAR RUMBLE!!! I just really hope he doesn't give up too early, when the fight gets to the mat, which it will. That was my only issue with Rumble's performance last time.

I still don't really get the Woodley hate tho. Especially before the recent interview with Thompson. It baffles me.

Here's the irony.....

The same dude calling DC a paper champ I believe has repeatedly said he thought Gus beat Jones.

And DC beat Gus.

DC didn't "get" the belt. He beat a LETHAL 205er in Rumble for it. And then beat Gus.

Rumble didn't lose to Jones. But he did lose to DC. Rumble never beat Jones. But now if he beats DC in their 2nd fight, he will somehow be a more legitimate champion.

I'm also not a massive DC fan, and I hope Rumble flies his head, but some of y'all really be on some ******** :lol

Looks like they offered weidman to fight Whittaker too but mousasi worked out better as the date and the fact that mousasi has been calling him out.. Whittaker would have been a great test

Whittaker/Mousassi would have been an awesome fight! What's the update on Rockhold? A fight between him and Whittaker would tell alot about Whittaker. Seems like a logical fight to make considering everyone in the MW top 10 seems to be booked.

Nick Diaz says he’ll return ‘pretty soon’ but isn’t in right ‘situation’ to accept an immediate fight

:lol

DC and Florian both jumped on the Masvidal War Wagon :smokin

They did.

Seeing a lot of people who feel the same way you do. Kind of surprised but maybe people appreciated Jorge's skills more than I thought.

Matchups are everything. I believe Cowboy is definitely more skilled and more well rounded.. but Jorge's main one skill can pose a big problem for Cowboy. You add in Jorge's durability and you have an upset brewing...

100% rooting for Cowboy to prove me wrong though

Exactly how I see fight. Jorge's hands will b an issue. If im cowboy i throw the kicks heavy keep distance and look for takedowns when Jorge tries to close distance

Add in one more thing for Jorge, as I said before he came to Denver early to acclimate. Big factor will be the altitude so at least he tried to adjust early

Cowboy is one of a freaking kind. His interviews are always exactly the same these days, "I don't want to wait to fight for the title", "I want to fight in March and I want to fight in May", "I never watch film, I didn't even watch my last fight" lol.. this man is insane

"I don't care if he dies"

"Robbie can call me anytime and say he needs help and I'd be there in a heartbeat"

See, it's a 50/50 for me.

Jorge is the better pure boxer. In terms of set ups, feints, footwork. And I believe the better wrestler.

Cowboy is the better kick boxer. In terms of using all of his limbs. And I believe has the better jits.

But at any moment, one of those things can offset the other.

Which is why I'm so hyped for this fight.

I would pay money to see Jorge and Robbie spar.

Speaking of Robbie, I wonder if he's going to a new camp or will he build a camp around him. i hope he doesn't go the same route as Hendricks. Does great with Team Takedown, then suffers a loss and decides to leave them.. Now look at him.

Jorge's resume doesn't hold a candle to cowboys and that's just being honest

So when we compare them and their skill sets do their resumes tie in to it? I kind of think that has to

Cowboy can finish in so many different ways.. compared to Jorge ... who hasn't proven this..

Maybe it's just me, but that's a lot of variables.

Obviously Jorge's resume isn't as strong as Cowboy's. But do you need "resume" to tell you who's a better technical boxer vs. kickboxer?

I thought it was pretty unanimous that Jorge's hands could be an issue here because he is a slicker boxer.

And Cowboy already wound up admitting that Jorge is a better wrestler.

Does how many ways one can "finish" even matter if you're comparing skill sets? The best technical boxer on the planet is well known as not being a finisher.

The point it to win the fight however it needs to be won.

Hopefully Jorge doesn't get stuck waiting to counter. But then that can obviously open him up to strikes.

Can't wait to see this play out.

I know MMA math isn't that accurate but we saw how cowboy did against a great boxer (Nate Diaz).

Jorge hands down is a better boxer. I guess my point of view is that Cowboys use of all of his limbs gives him more tools to work with. His bjj and ability to work an array of subs further adds dimensions

That's where I'm coming from in terms of matching up their skillets

Of course a technical boxer may not have many finishes, that's not the argument at all. It's accounting for all of the skills in mma not just one. This plays into how I believe cowboy is more skilled than Jorge

Anyway like I said styles make matches and that's why jorge is primed to give cowboy some problems. However Gibson has had cowboy looking better in his boxing game can't deny that

Gatekeeper? Lmao dudes just saying anything these days ..
