I'm hella happy Izzy acknowledged it outright and didn't big time him or just no sell it
I don't think this is a Joe Duffy situation (which no disrespect to Duffy, he was actually a solid fighter) where you kind of wanted to see him rematch Conor but then again it wasn't like some Elephant in the room
Feel like Pereira is a legit killer. This one feels like "ok, Izzy this guy is formidable and now there's a legit path to fight him", let's try to make this happen
You definitely should match him up wisely though, the ground game aint nothin to play with. Keep training with Glover but avoid guys like Brunson and Vetorri obviously. I still say unranked next, followed by a Holland level fighter and then maybe one more legit contender (whether you want a Till type or a legit grappler)

I, personally, think this is a bad matchup for Conor. Mike is a big guy and he can wrestle which is one of Conor’s kryptonite. But the Irish fella does like a good challenge and it could help with the against the narrative that he’s terrible against wrestlers…when it’s just everyone is bad against Khabib.
They’re not lopsided. Colby “respected” Usman too much in fight #2. Maybe it was respect for his improved striking, maybe it was an aversion to be the latest victim on the Summer Jam screen or lastly a case of getting a good read on Usman’s offense/defense. Colby literally came roaring back in rounds 3-5. He fumbled it by not being himself and setting that pace again. His chin and jaw clearly held up this time.
The kid was obviously on the adoption market, so to ask Vince…is it worse that the boy doesn’t have a stable home or that Chandler demonstrates MAGA qualities?

Dustin P, who is arguably one of the better strikers/boxers in the UFC said Peter Yan is the best boxer in the Company.
Alex P has a lot of questions against non kick boxing type MMA fighters. Fast tracking him might be great for the Izzy fight. But he could end up being another Gogan Saki (sp).

He hasn't quite lapped the division yet so I don't see the rush in trying to fight your close friend in Izzy. It's not a fight that's all that must see imo
The potential Leon rematch, Luque, Chimaev... hell even someone like Sean Brady or Rakhmanov will be on the come up...

Usamn definitely should fight 3-4 more times at WW before even considering the Izzy fight but such is the world we live in. With Luque in the mix, the Brady/Chiesa and Edwards/Masvidal fights coming up I wonder who they go with for the next shot. I'd say if Edwards loses they go with Luque and Brady is likely still another big win away from a shot for now.

Adesanya vs Usman isn't even that interesting tbh, I don't think Usman can keep him down. And if he can't keep Izzy down, it's target practice.
I know BJ got ****ted on for saying this earlier but I basically agree with him, I think someone who depends on a strong wrestling base to dominate their weight class is probably not gonna be too successful moving up. Great striking, and to a much lesser extent great BJJ, seem to be more useful.
It's no coincidence that the most dominant wrestling based champs of recent times have also been big for the weight class (Khabib, Usman, Bones), and either never talk about moving up in weight, or do a whole lot of pump faking. They're not built for that*.
*Cejudo won the belt at 135 because of his striking, and Cormier is a heavyweight that dieted down to 205

Also those 10 lb jumps in weight are imo way less than the 15 Lb or more jump to the next

For those who don't know there is a new UFC Destined episode up on ESPN+ covering the Holloway-Yair fight. Really good watch and great production values. For as good as the visuals are ESPN barely promotes this series. I always enjoy the 2nd parts which show the aftermath of the fight with the highs and lows felt by both winner and loser.

Fwiw luque was the alternate in the title fight last week so I’m sure he’s in consideration. Usman will be willing to throw him a bone since they were at blackzillians together.

Luque missing weight as an alternate might be a bad look on him. They said that he wasn't even told to stop cutting either in case something unexpected happened on fight day.
