Agreed. But I’d have said the same thing to Askren.

Besides the cardio wrestlers with high volume striking (besides Tyron)...Maia is a tough matchup.

170 is crazy. Even Rocky following in the Cardio wrestling methodology with high volume that Dolby and Usman practice.

Only thing I don't like is that he's fighting at MW vs Meerschaert then WW vs Maia. Dude can't keep doing that if he's going to fight better competition. But if he ends up beating Maia he should be considered as a serious contender. Even though Maia is getting up there in age, the only people whos beaten him are champs and legit contenders

It's kind of difficult to place Maia at this stage. Askren is very one dimensional and in a matchup against Maia that one dimension is somewhat negated because of Maia's strengths

Chiminaev's striking is def more dangerous than Askren's and just his shear mauling ability/being younger more energy more athleticism, I think a case can be made that he's a more difficult matchup for Maia assuming he gets past a good test in Meerschaert

Really Askren's one dimension had to be like Colby/Usman/Woodley combined level for him to have a chance. That Lawler fight almost took things off the tracks early lol. All 3 of those wrestlers have much better striking than Askren as well

Usman brought up a subtle point about Woodley and southpaws. I was skeptical of Woodley's chances since it was announced but I'm hoping this point can come up in the fight

“I think that this is the best and possibly the worst case scenario for Tyron Woodley,” Usman continued. “As far as style matchups, I think this is probably one of the worst stylistic matchups for him after coming off back-to-back fights with guys that love kind of pressure him. Guys that can grapple as well and guys that kind of throw some volume.

Colby is literally going to repeat Burns/Usman. Pressure Woodley. If he’s tentative, he loses. If he approaches the Covington matchup like Usman, he could possibly have a chance.

But let’s be honest. The WB, the Maia, the Usman and Burns fight showed us who Woodley is.

The one thing working in Woodley's favor is that he doesn't have to respect Colby's power. If he can avoid being dry humped he can have success on the feet (assuming he decides to throw).

He has to pray colby gets prideful and decides to stand and not wrestle

Woodley needs to pray that his wrestling returns because if it does and he can keep it standing he really could win. For some reason he’s looked completely lackluster and no cardio to wrestle though

I can’t see how Nick wants a part of it with Burns, Usman, Covington and Edwards. Maybe even Dos Anjos. And where or where is Ponz?

And Woodley could disrespect Colbys power but it’s still not going to negate the volume of striking or the wrestling he might mix in.

Like Usman/Covington was a close fight until the stoppage in the fifth. Some people had Colby winning. Usman was the perfect foil. Woodley is tentative. He’s literally shown it in WB2, Maia, Usman and Burns fight.

I think he's made pretty good money over the years relative to his abilities. I guess now he can piggyback off his brother a little bit to get a couple nice paydays.

His prime was years ago. His last win was against BJ Penn. he took off five years from the game due to suspension and Diazisms (which I can understand).

And the fight game has evolved so much since then... Just give him a fun matchup. Absolutely no need to have him fight a top WW.

Bro. Usman rolling him up. Though Nick has better boxing, Colbys volume striking and take downs would starch. It’s just not many fights he can win.
