The NBA Draft Thread

I bet you like how I predicted the first 7 picks in the draft in its exact order (see page 111) and on the same day there's suddenly an ESPN report that the Kings and Lakers are back in serious trade talks.

Stay tuned.

When this trade doesn't happen, then what?

I hope the Kings do that trade...the worst the Kings get, the better the chances philly gets their high lottery pick next year :evil
And the better the Lakers get, the better the chances they fall below 4 in the lottery next year which means it also goes to philly :evil :evil

Man, I'm not sure I could have predicted a better way for the Suns' draft to go. Wanted Bender at 4, got it. Wasn't really anyone I was crazy about at 13 or 28...they trade up and get Chriss. Feel like Ulis is a good flyer in the 2nd round as well.

Regarding KU boys —

Not at all shocked Ellis or Selden didn't get drafted...they're just not good enough, pretty simple.

Wow. Just read up on Jaylen Brown. He doesn't sound like your average nba player off the court, at all :eek

His hobbies :x

He really memoried the collective bargaining agreement and his own contract :x What kind of mutant iz dis

Rookie scale doesn't allow for bargaining, besides the usual extra 120 percent if teams aren't cheap. It's pre-determined, so he saves the otherwise 3 or 4 percent that would normally go to an agent though.

I bet no other nba rookie knew this. Except maybe Jeremy Lin. :lol

The Woj of FoxSports.com bloggers really ain't letting go of these fantasies, huh?

Still has Harrison Barnes jumping ship as a starter from a 73 win team...to play 6th man. Sitting in place of...Larry Nance Jr.

He's gonna be making all those M's...to come off the bench for a rebuilding team. Seems legit.

......

Do you have a link? I want to see how this is going to pan out when he sits down with The Celtics front office.

What say you guys about turning this into a SL thread then Rookie Watch thread?

Lakers will trade Randle, Young, Clarkson, plus future pick to Sacramento for Cousins and Seth Curry. ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting Kings are "heavily engaged" in talks with the Lakers in a potential blockbuster trade that would send Cousins to L.A.

Wishful thinking but you never know. I think the Lakers are pursuing Cousins hard. Based on the roster below, the Lakers would have a solid mix of veteran leaders and youngsters while building a roster that can play the brand of ball Luke Walton is envisioning.

Can this young core of Lakers carry the team into the next era? " We like this young Laker core, yes," said Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak. "It doesn't mean we're not going to pursue some veteran leadership. When July 1st [free agency] rolls around, I think we will. I think historically, history tells you that a bunch of young guys on the team is probably not a good thing. They look around for leadership or they look around for advice from somebody who's been through this a couple times, and if there's nobody to talk to, well, you don't know how to handle the situation. So I think we will look to add some veteran leadership and hopefully it's not only leadership but guys who can help us win games."

Very happy about the Baldwin and Davis pick ups. Hopefully, these guys can get on the floor next year.

Elite athlete nerd. :hat :hat :hat

Want him to succeed just off the strength of his mindset.

Man, I really want Jaylen Brown to succeed. Seems like a really good kid. The fact that he's the third player ever selected in the top 10 with a negative WARP scares the heck out of me. The other 2 are Joe Alexander and Austin Rivers. Wish we would have drafted Dunn at 3 and then packaged picks to move up to Sacramento's pick at 8. Would've been able to draft Brown or Chriss there.

I want to like brown but I kinda get weird vibes from him and this is before Boston took him. I'm pretty sure he reminded ainge of rondo and that played a part in the pick. He seems to have that intelligent douche personality. When I heard him say 'I'm just as smart as you and twice as good at the sport you love to watch' I was like wow :lol. He's one of those guys that knows what you want to hear and comes off as a con man in that sense. To be fair I felt the same way when I heard some of D'lo's early interviews but he seems to live by his little philosophy he talks about. But at the same time the Nick young thing was consistent with some of the weird vibes i got from him.

I don't know how good Jaylen brown can be but I don't see him being any worse than Crowder.

I don't know how much better than Crowder he can be either, which is kind of scary with how high he was drafted...
