The NBA Draft Thread

In his two games he had Lyles guarding him the whole time last night and Jaylen Brown guarding him in the other so let's not act like he's not playing against NBA talent in these Summer League games. He's only going to look better once a coach gets it into his head to ATTACK. Whether it's shooting the open jumper or blowing past his man to the basket he just needs to stay aggressive instead of handing it off to the likes of TJ McConnell and standing around watching him dribble.

Jaylen Brown is a rookie wing. He's also playing against summer league TEAM defense. Pretty important considering he's racking up assists and struggling from the field. Less openings against an NBA team.

If Simmons could shoot he could've been the best player in the world. Plus he's not a willing scorer at all.

It'll probably take him 3-5 years to get a consistent and respectable jumpshot. I could see him averaging 14-8-7 his rookie year at best.

After watching these games, the best Simmons comparison would be a PF Jason Kidd. Simmons can be an orchestrater much like CP3 is now. He has the potential to control the offence, very high IQ.

If he ends up being a full-time PG, he can use his size to post up defending PGs and SGs while also being able to hit 16 footers (eventually).

Sure, his ceiling may be limited if he doesn't become a scorer, but he can still have the biggest impact in a game without scoring much just like Kidd. I am excited!

Waiting for Buc Em to start posting shirtless pics of Simmons.

All he needs to do is put up a Summer League triple double and it's inevitable.

Simmons is Grant Hill/Jason Kidd hybrid.

Aint nobody ever played like him at the 4 position EVER. No comparisons there.

Griffin unleashed is attainable.

Been saying this since 2 years ago. Ben is a quicker Blake Griffin

Nah Ben doesn't have that type explosion around the basket.

Hard to see him becoming a 70% paint finisher like peak Blake.

You can see him struggling a bit with the NBA level rim protection in the summer league.

Like I can't see Ben bullying people in the post, or catching lobs in traffic, or people being scared to contest because they are terrified of being dunked on.

Ben is just an extremely unique player. not many good comparisons.

Blake griffin doesn't have the handle nor passing that Simmons has at this age and Simmons doesn't have blakes athelicism

Ben reminds me of prime Boris Diaw. Even the way he passes up semi-open shots for no reason. Obviously way better though.

He still tryna push that. :lol

It sounded crazy then and it still sounds crazy now.

It's really not crazy at all. I think Ben will finish fine at the Rim. He's obviously not the same finisher as Blake....but he has great touch, and good explosiveness going to the basket. They also can grab and go, and work from the elbows really well. Similar length. Ben even being longer.

Y'all will see it soon. I'm not the only one that's made the comparison.

You can't compare a player to another when players A defining trait doesn't exist in player B.

They're both interracial 4's with short arms but beyond that their games are totally different and so is their athleticism.

Like you can't compare a prospect to Blake if he's not jumping over every 7 footer in front of him.

They're obviously not the same player...but they have a lot of similarities. To me, Blake is the best comparrison. Both statistically, and skill wise/profile.

Y'all underrate Blake as a passer/ball handler. Ben is better...but Blake is filthy with the pill. He averaged over 5apg next to Cp3.

Playoff Blake from last year....Ben can be used in a similar fashion:

I honestly don't think you can compare anyone to Ben and that's fine. Like dude said above he's just simply unique for his size/ability.

I wish he had the killer instinct but maybe it'll come along down the line *cross fingers*

I mean all these comparisons sound exactly like Lamar :lol. Reluctant scorer, good handles, good playmaker, weak jimmer. Odom had the length advantage (allowed him to play the 5), better jumper although streaky and was a near elite rebounder and above average defender tho.

It's really sounding like Simmons is what Odom was supposed to be and Kat is what sheed was supposed to be

Yes you can. Additionally, Ben is more comparable to Blake now...who isn't banging on every 7 footer. Ben can still get up and finish in traffic. You're underrating his finishing ability some. A lazy comparrison is comparing Blake to Shawn kemp just because they got bounce and developed midrange js.

Ben and Blake Griffin share many similarities. The Clippers literally RAN their offense thru Blake when cp3 was out.

The only real difference between Ben and Blake is Blake jumps higher and is a more physical finisher. They rebound at the same rate, have comparable lateral quickness, get up and down the floor quickly, and handle the ball well at their sizes.

^Yeah Blake is a great passer for a big, Ben is just a flat out great passer.

You're selling Blake short as a passer/ball handler
