The NBA Draft Thread

I see some Elf when he's in the open court, making plays from all over. Fox just jumps out on the tv screen more thanks to his athleticism.

Agree...ball and DLo would get torched nightly on the defensive end
This is the problem especially if you're staring Randle and zoo as your front court

Lakers fundamentally are in a difficult position. They have talent but need an identity

Offensively they're interesting with ball but someone gonna have to play defense

This is why Lakers gotta draft Josh Jackson. I think he's the only impact player in this draft outside of Fultz that'll move the needle for them.

Also, I really don't want to put too much judgement on one game, but man Ball has really disappointed me. Pretty much proved everything we've been saying about his weaknesses.

I just don't see how Lonzo can be a top 3 scorer on a good team. Why would you take someone so high in a draft with a bunch of good players if he can't project to do that? His passing is absolutely incredible, but without being able to score, he ends up looking more like a role player, especially when the game slows down and is played mostly in the halfcourt.

I see Lonzo averaging Rubio/Rondo numbers but without the defense that either of them provide. Somebody else can be my guest and use a top 3 pick on that.

I'm sure Ball and his camp know exactly what his weaknesses are, but just in case they were in ultra denial, getting outplayed like this on that stage hopefully hammers home the elements of his game which he needs to improve. In moments like these you can hopefully learn the lessons and use them to become a better player

I don't think you can add that fast twitch dynamic athleticism but I feel like he can improve his ball handling and focus on angles he can play off the PnR. He simply has zero interest right now in creating out of it but that's something he can actually improve on IMO. I don't feel like his handle is tight enough but I see no reason why that couldn't improve to the level it needs to

I never liked Lonzo as an NBA prospect

but to each their own, go ahead and take him #1 Celtics

The emphasis on Ball to score is being a bit overblown here. He's not a score first point guard. As far as being a top 3 scorer, I don't see how he eventually couldn't be the third guy...

Rubio/Rondo were better at penetrating at the same stage but defenses could also leave them open. You can't just leave Ball open.. so it kind of evens out there. Ball's defense needs work, might be able to hide him on a weaker 2 or a weaker 1 with his size though

Big point guards who can't shoot and his all around game is elfridish

All this **** about Fox and Josh Jackson I always hear on here about how they "can't shoot."

I've seen enough of both of them to know we aren't talking about Rondo and Tony Allen. Both these dudes can knock down shots. John Wall and Kawhi Leonard probably hit less jumpers than either one of them in college.

Completely agree with this. Sure they're not Curry or Klay, but these guys definitely have respectable jumpers. You cant just stay 5 feet away from them like you can with Tony, Rondo, MKG, etc. Even John Wall came a long way where you have to stay close with him at certain ranges.

Literally the only thing he has in common with Payton is the big hair. Their games are nothing alike.

It's easy to see fox jumper will get better...his form is great. It's just not falling. He will be good in that aspect. Most freshmen struggle shooting their freshmen year.

Comparing every prospect who doesn't shoot like Glen Rice to Rondo is the most annoying thing people do on here

I like Tatum as the second best prospect in this draft
Yeah I think the Celts probably have him 3rd on their board. They are going to take the more defensive minded guy over someone like Tatum every time though.
