I’m assuming these are supposed to represent the original ‘alternate’ samples and not the ‘max orange’ pair from 1988. But I have no idea, of course. It’s just that the red color looks more like the original red than max orange.

Or is it the original ‘alternate’ sample - which had a different left and right shoe (one red and one blue). I guess we’ll find out eventually

If anything, I'd say the red is off.
Looks like they just took the univ red from the annis.

Even ageing considered, the cw above (and the stock pic) always looked like some slight orangy/pinky type of red.

Those pics above are from AK, he has a shop on tbe east coast, VA iirc. It's the 88, so black toe. It may have a blue tint now but it's an 88. I know bc I've tried to buy it for a decade lol. It's the 2nd one on the left. 87 on left then 88 next.

Yea that seems to the be inspiration? I think it was an early sample. But it doesn't have the big bubble? Who knows man lol. Nike will just make something up so idk why people like us have to weird and fact check them but here we are. I love this stuff.

I do not think AK's pair has a blue toe. I think the lighting and cranking up exposure caused that. This picture pretty clearly has a black toe. I messaged with him and he thinks it's black. He said it's been years since he saw them but he'll try to go by storage and snag some pics.

And this is clearly black.

But then there's also this pic, which so clearly blue. So maybe they some black and some blue? Maybe mens vs womens?

Or maybe's it production dates? One has big bubble, one does not. Maybe early pairs had big bubble and blue and later pairs had smaller bag and black?
