So how are you guys connecting your MBP to your tv with sound enabled?

I can get the picture on the tv no problem but the way I was able to get sound was by connecting my MBP to some external speakers.

I've seen some tuts on youtube showing how to get both picture and sound from your MBP on your tv but still no luck.

I'm running a late 2011 15inch MBP.

Shouldn't the HMDI adapter cover both sound and video?

Yup HDMI does both video and audio.

I find it ridiculous these machines cost so much and don't even come with a HDMI port. Hell even a blu ray drive

If you're running HDMI and have no sound you can try going to system preferences-sound then double click the TV's name.

3.5mm to RCA cable, it might depend on your TV though.

I have the 2012 MBP and I just use this adapter

and a regular HDMI cable.

Video and sound both come through my TV. Works perfectly for me.

What year? For anyone looking for an adapter for a newer MBP get one from monoprice. Heading to the Apple store later, but wanted to know... Does the MBP retina have an Ethernet port? Can you upgrade them? Is Apple having any student discounts?

no ethernet and if you're a student you should be able to get a discount and maybe a back to school gift card for the app center. just bring your student id.

man if apple included a blu ray drive it would be such a good move, but they got rid of drives altogether

What program are you guys using to pull all of your media (Music especially) off of your iphones and onto new computers?

When playing YouTube videos in HD, after a couple videos, it starts to seriously lag and play frame by frame. When I press pause, the video will keep playing for a few more seconds without sound. Would upgrading the RAM solve this problem? 

On a 2010 MBP 2.66 GHz i7 on 4GB RAM.
