Jobs in the army i'm looking at are: signals intelligence analyst (35n), information technology specialist (25b), microwave systems operator-maintainer (25p). Still looking at other potential jobs but those caught my eye. Any input would be appreciated.
AF has it easier but the Army isn't too bad.  Im in the signal corps(25 series) and honestly I got put into a unit where I never do the job I actually learned. lol.  My mos is getting phased out so maybe thats why.    The 25b's at my unit work with 25u's in an office fixing computers everyday.  They also do other commo type things.  I don't remember too much about the 25P's.  We stayed in the same building as them in AIT. I just know that the majority of them got sent to Korea.  You go to AIT in Georgia and you need secret clearances for all of those.
Thanks for the reply, how do jobs look in the civilian sector if i have experience with a 25 series job. Don't know if your familiar with any of the Air Force mos's but i was aiming at all 3d jobs as in cyber security. Does the Army have a similar mos like cyber security or is that only found in the Air Force? Basically i'm trying to pursue an MOS that can potentially get me a good job once i'm out. Thanks.

Bumping to see how everyone is doing on their progress of joining.

I signed the papers and swore in to join the Navy back on July 28th. I ship out to bootcamp March 20, 2012. Going in as a CM [construction mechanic], but hoping to reclassify to
IS - Intelligence Specialist if not I'll be okay with CM.

found out the PAO board review I'm applying to was bumped up to January from April. I was told by a contact of mine that two JOs from the community were let go so I wonder if it has anything to do with that.

You are going to be a Seabee. CM's get to work with the Seals alot. They mostly fix/ maintain their boats and other mechanical toys. They are only keeping the cream of the crop in the Seabees. So, you will have to bust your butt to stay in. The Seabees used tobe the first guys in during war. They would build air strips and camps so the marines could come in. Now they contract the out and the Seabees have been doing alot more humanitarian aid around the globe. They are usually sent with very little resources. Right now they are kicking out a lot of Sailors. Seabees are a group that they are kicking out.

ugh found out as of now, there will be no more SWO boards for FY 2012

that doesn't mean they won't open up any at all but damn I was hoping to submit a package for multiple board reviews at the same time.

these proposed defense cuts are going to be DEEEP and have a huge effect on personnel #s

that sucks man. I feel your pain. I've been waiting for almost a year now. There is a supply board tentatively scheduled for January that my package will be in. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't get pushed back. When did you begin your application process
