The Official NBA post.

I'm ready for the season to start . Looking forward to all of the games that come on tomorrow night especially the Bulls. I would think the Bullsdidn't have any plans on starting Ben to begin and the injury gave them an excuse.

27 of 30?

*yawn

Pretty surprised Ewing Jr. got waived, especially after that performance he had in the last preseason game. I thought he would provide some good energy off thebench. Especially in Mike D's system.

I like Ben as a 6th man type of guy more than I do a starter anyway.

Not that he isn't capable of being a starter, because he is.
But I would love to have a player like Gordon coming off the bench for me.

True indeed. He's capable of hitting those big shots when needed and pretty much providing a spark off the bench.

I'm cool with 10th..

Can the Celtics repeat? They won't win the East. It's either Orlando, Philly, or Detroit.
Who's going to win the West? Record-wise? Houston. Playoffs? Spurs or Hornets (don't sleep on the Suns to make it to the WCF).
How will the Lakers play together? Pau+Andrew will not mesh well.
How will the Rockets play together? Their defense should be effing nasty.
laugh.gif

How will the Blazers do? I say 5-8, anywhere in between, I think they'll have around 50 wins, but real determinant on how well they place is how well therest of the West does.
Is Dwight Horward going to develop some moves anytime soon? I doubt it.
How about the 76ers? Top 3 seed in the East, ECF.
Are the Hornets going to take the #1 seed? One of the top three.
Who's going to be the ROY? Mr. Oden.
Who's going to be the MVP? LeBron, without a doubt.
Which team is going to have a breakout season? Charlotte, Dallas, Portland, NJ (don't sleep on Brook/Yi/Harris/VC).
Which team is going to fall off? Nuggets, they'll fall into mediocrity, and AI will bounce next year, and it's going to be a rough couple years forMelo.
Is D-Wade going to play like he did in the Olympics? Not as well, but he'll be damn good.

I disagree, I think Pau and Bynum will be fine.

Bynum is one of the few good, true Centers in this league.
Gasol is better at the 4 IMO.

It's a good problem to have though.
And I think Oden would be a lock for ROY, but there's still a huge injury risk with him.

Can't WAIT!! Go Grizzlies, Bulls!!!

Two NBA sourcesclaim that Al Harrington has asked the Warriors to trade him because he doesn't want to play for coach Don Nelson anymore.

He reportedly wants to be traded as soon as possible, but will not walk out on Golden State, who opens their season on Wednesdaynight.

One source with knowledge of the situation said that Harrington's agent, Dan Fegan, is "actively working to get (Harrington)out of there" and that a few teams already have proposed tentative deals.
Shaq: I'm Still NBA'sBest Big Man
Oct 28, 2008 4:40 PM EST

phx_40.gif
Suns'center Shaquille O'Neal still believes that he is the NBA's best big man.

"Because I've done the most," O'Neal said. "I'm not worried about guys winning dunk contests and doingstuff like that. You still have to outdo the shogun to become the shogun. When I leave, it'll be because my time is up, not because someone is outplayingme or someone has done more than me. The only one who has even done close, and I don't really consider him a center, is Mr. (Tim) Duncan. Any other center, the things that they have done, I invented."

O'Neal is entering his seventeenth season in the league.

"I just try to pace myself every 20 games," O'Neal, 36, said. "When I was younger, I had a different mentality, soI really haven't mastered the mentality of being an old guy yet."
Iverson Says He's ReadyFor Opener
Oct 28, 2008 10:13 AM EST

den_40.gif
Nuggets'guard Allen Iverson has declared himself ready for the team's opener against the Jazz on Wednesday.

Iverson said on Monday that the ankle that has been bothering him is no longer an issue.

"Oh, no, I don't worry about that," Iverson said. "That's what I do best, is play offense. So I feel like itwill come. My jump shot is not where I want it to be, but every aspect of my game, as far as everything else, I'm happy with it. I'm able to get to thebasket. I'm able to finish at the basket. I'm able to move my feet on defense and get in the passing lane and get steals like I usually do. Just theoffensive rhythm is not there. And that's just from not playing."
Monta Ellis Plans To FileAppeal
Oct 28, 2008 10:10 AM EST

gsw_40.gif
Monta Ellisspoke out for the first time on Monday since the Warriors suspended him thirty games for injuring his ankle in a moped accident.

"While management and I do not agree on their actions, I want to be clear that my injury is based on my mistake injudgment," Ellis said in a statement released by his agent, Jeff Fried, "and I always accept responsibility for my actions."

Ellis won't accept the fact that his punishment is being left open-ended. He will file a grievance next week addressing the GoldenState's ability to punish him twice for the same offense.

Team president Robert Rowell left room for more penalties after the suspension - such as the termination of Ellis' contract -should he not regain his previous form after rehab.

"I am working very hard to get back on the court and help my teammates and coaches win many games and recreate the playoffatmosphere of 2007," Ellis said in his statement. "We were as excited on the court as the fans in the stands, and I will continue to work hard tomake you proud of the Warriors."

I think it's funny how much hate the Nuggets get. Everybody thinks that losing Camby means we're worse, but most people who pay attention to theNuggets thinks it actually makes us better. Losing Camby forces the team members to pick up a better defensive strategy other than just letting the big manclean up. The team has responded well in training camp, pre-season, and in their first game of the season in terms of picking up on the rotations, playingbetter man to man, and just being more aware. With our new role players coming off the bench, we look better defensively than we ever have. Balkman (ThanksNY!), Andersen, JR, these guys hustle and play pretty solid D (JR looks good defensively so far). Plus JR is a killer off the bench, and he allows us to keep alegit scoring threat on the floor all 48 minutes of the game. The biggest ? marks are: Nene - can he stay healthy and out of foul trouble? AI: When will he betraded? Or will he just play through the season and retire? Either way, 20 mil off the books gives us some room to find a legitimate point guard and some moredepth in the front court. PG: Anthony Carter just sucks. There's no way he can be our starting PG and play 35 minutes a game all season again. If Atkinsrecovers, maybe he'll be better, but who knows. Right now, the best option is looking to be AI/JR starting back court, but Karl loves Carter and he willlikely continue his horrendous play, taking horrible pull up jumpers on transition, commiting stupid fouls and head scratching turnovers, etc.

All in all, we could fall flat on our face this season but we can also win 50 games again. People are quick to count us out, but that's because they listento the media and see maybe 3-5 Nuggets games a year.

Enough of the predictions, let's get to talking about the NBA

Come on son. 2/17?!? Not a good day to say the least.
D-Wade was beasting today. 20 points and 8 assists in only 27 mins.
Jose Calderon, 13 assists.
I think AI is going to be traded at the deadline, it'll be interesting to see what happens because there's no way he's going to be a Nugget nextyear.

Rookie Watch:
Jason Thompson from rider. The most underrated player from the draft.

10 points, 7 boards in only 19 mins. today (He put up 18 and 10 in 22 mins. the other day)
D Rose: 18 points, only 1 assist though
Beasely: 17 and 9 boards in 27 mins.
OJ: 17 points and 6 boards. Only 3 points in the 2nd half though.

CDR look pretty good up in NJ.

He needs more minutes though.
