Cavaliers' West fractures wrist during game
Posted Jan 15 2009 9:45PM

CHICAGO (AP) -- Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West left Thursday's game against the Bulls with a fractured right wrist after a nasty collision with Chicago's Derrick Rose.

West was off to a blazing start, with 11 points, when he tried to block Rose's layup with 1:36 left in the first quarter. Both players crashed to the court, but while Rose quickly popped up, West stayed down clutching his wrist with a non-displaced fracture. He also had a cut above his left eye that required two stitches.

The Cavaliers began the night with the league's best record. Now, they'll have to make do without a key piece in West, who was fourth on the team at 12.3 points per game.

Oden straight up killing Brook Lopez last night.

All Lopez needs is TIME, and he'll be ok someday. Just give the kid some TIME.

Bowie lite makin it too easy for me these days. In fact, I'm startin to think it's flat out disrespectful to Bowie to be lumpin him in with this bum. I'm considering switching names to Kwame Jr.

Didn't feel like this trade was worth making a new thread for, so I thought I'd post it in here:
Sources: Mavs agree to trade Diop
The Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Bobcats have reached an agreement in principle on a new trade after last week's collapse of a three-way deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to NBA front-office sources.
This one, however, does not involve Bobcats guard Raymond Felton. Sources told ESPN.com on Friday that the Mavericks and Bobcats are close to completing a deal that would send Dallas center DeSagana Diop to Charlotte for guard Matt Carroll and center Ryan Hollins.

^ Hell with the thread, I dunno if this trade even deserves it's own post.

DENVER - In a game that Shaquille O'Neal did not play, five Suns players took more shots than Amaré Stoudemire.

In a nip-and-tuck game that went to overtime before Phoenix lost 119-113 to Denver, Stoudemire took one shot after the 7:18 mark of the third quarter.

He brought on some of that by his foul trouble, which saw him draw three in the first half and two more in the third quarter. Some came by his mistakes, like two consecutive third-quarter turnovers, or passivity. But his only overtime opportunity when the game was still competitive came on his offensiverebound, after which he drew a foul for two free throws.

"We're still trying to figure it out," Stoudemire said. "It's going to take a little more time, hopefully, to swing my way. We'llsee if it works.

"Pick-and-roll is one facet of our offense but there are other ways we can get guys involved. But it's OK. We've just got to figure it out.Hopefully, this will change here soon so guys can be afraid of me again. Right now, they're just, 'Hey, I'm playing Amare.' It's all right.I want to get back to the point where I put fear in guys' hearts. Hopefully, it comes soon."

Stoudemire finished with 21 points, nine of which came on free throws. He was 6 of 9 from the field and had eight rebounds, three assists, three steals anda block in 35 minutes.

"That's what I do," Stoudemire said of getting to the free throw line. "I put guys in foul trouble and put fear in their hearts -- in myprevious years. This year, it's a little different. But hopefully I'll get back to it."

Whoa.
What has he done at any point in his career that suggests he's much more than that? He's a decent role player. Nothing more, nothingless... There's nothing special about Chris Wilcox whatsoever...

Getting out from that contract less than6 months after signing it is a great move by the Mavs...

Carroll's contract sucks too, but at least he gets less expensive each year, rather than more expensive like Diop...

I was always under the impression that Chris Wilcox was really underrated, but the fact that he was just referred to as a "decent role player"...wow.

There aren't a lot of guys in the league with a better combination of strength and athleticism. He's a walking double double when he gets the minuteshe should get (30+).

I couldn't tell you why he's being black-balled right now, but it isn't because of his talent.
What has he done at any point in his career that suggests he's much more than that?
Go look through his game logs starting with the 2005-06 season.

Edit: In his last six games, he's had three DNP's, 3 minutes, 12 minutes and 16 minutes. Tonight, he gets 26 minutes - 17 and 11.

sixers need to trade Brand, i knew he would cause that team to lose and i was right. They should trade him to the warriors since they wanted it.

damn the magic ain't playin...

The Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat are discussing a trade that would send center Jermaine O'Neal to the Heat in exchange for forward ShawnMarion and point guard Marcus Banks, the Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

Concerns about O'Neal's health are delaying negotiations.

Raptors' GM Bryan Colangelo is looking to make an immediate move while Pat Riley appears to be in no rush.

Colangelo has been shopping O'Neal since the emergence of Andrea Bargnani, who has started at center in place ofO'Neal.

O'Neal is earning $21.3 million this season and has an option for $23 million next year.

Stephon Marbury says he has at least one firm offer on the table from another team and he is now willing to put the $1 million giveback back on thetable, the New York Post is reporting.

Marbury had taken the $1 million giveback off the table during their stormy Dec. 1 meeting. Marbury put it back in play because atleast one team has now made a commitment to him, allowing him to make the $1 million back.

Walsh last offered Marbury to take $3 million less. Marbury has been told by Knicks officials the matter is in owner James Dolan'shands and he's been awaiting word for several days.

"I'm hoping," Marbury told The Post. "I don't know what the real reason would be if theydidn't take it. I can't fight a billion-dollar company. I've been waiting nearly a week."
