The Official NBA Thread: Celtics Lead 3-1 in the NBA Finals | RIP Jerry West

Portland having Herro on their roster to start the season really isn’t much of a big deal or hassle  …They can trade him at some point or he might be better than the young dudes they already got, either way that’s not hurting a Blazers teams that’s starting a rebuild
Why can’t Miami just go trade him for the pieces that Portland wants then if it’s so easy? Portland aren’t the ones that should be doing any extra work in this scenario

Trading an asset for an asset you don’t even want and will have to move or will create more issues for you (i mean having to decide between him, Sharpe and Simons) just isn’t smart business IMO.

Why make a move to set up another move when you have the prize and primary piece of the puzzle?
Either Herro will be a keeper or you trade him, what’s really the harm or bad business in that for a lottery team ?

Unless I missed something and things changed that’s how rebuilds usually go, you stack up young players and see what happens with them…Now if they think Herro is absolutely terrible or his camp is tellin em he’ll be a problem if he gets traded there (this is more probable), then it makes sense to not want him on the roster but other than that I don’t see the downside on him starting the 23 season as a Blazer…Theres nothing on the market better than that at this point if they don’t want to drag the situation out

They sure can…But they not the ones with a disgruntled star they gotta answer questions about every day starting in a week

If “extra work” is really the hold up then good luck to Portland

It’s not worth trading your prized asset to get a suboptimal return that you can maybe flip for something even less optimal.

They have to get the biggest bang for their buck in a Dame trade instead of getting some of what they want then crossing their fingers that later they can trade Tyler Herro’s remaining $120MM/4 years.

I’ll gladly answer some annoying and awkward questions for four weeks or even four months than trying to dealt with that. And let’s say they do wait weeks/months and end up taking the suboptimal trade…they didn’t lose anything (probably helped their tank tbh) and Miami wasted a season. They basically know the bottom offer so no rush to take it other than to do what Dame wants them to do

Portland was already unable to trade Simons, probably don’t want the same thing to happen in they take on Herro.

Simons would be harder to move than Herro.

If these Raptors rumors are true, Portland should really just deal with them.

Before Dame’s trade request they tried to move him.
You talking about during the draft? Feel like they were swinging for the fences with Simons and the #3 pick to try and get another big name to get Dame to stay

Don't think that means Simons has no trade value or untradeable

No they tried to get OG for Simons and picks

Do you think Herro’s value is more than one lottery protected pick + role player?

Smart on Portland. If they are forced to take the Miami deal then it is what it is, but it’s no way to spin that into a good deal like people are trying to do. That package is garbage.

You sure that isn't just Masai viewing OG as prime Scottie Pippen  there were verified reports of what deals were on the table for OG, didn't hear or see the Simons one

Herro on his own aint gonna get more than that

What is a fair trade for the camp that thinks the Miami package is trash. Doesn't have to be Miami, just a general package

Can have Herro included in 3-team trade so at no point you need to flip anything. Charlotte rumored to be interested in Herro. Could bag another 1-2 FRP

Heat: Herro + Jaquez or Jovic + Caleb Martin
Raptors: OG + Dikk + a pick

Theres no way one of those cant get a deal done.

Either way you are losing this trade no matter what when trading a player of Dame's caliber.

I think a Heat offer is fine, but that's it. Not much upside other than hoping Riley retires and Dame/Jimmy/Bam age out in three years.
