The Official NBA Thread: NBA Draft Tonight | Giannis to the Miami Heat

I like bringing on a Euroleague coach.

Feels like we should be able to use Edey better with the FIBA rules.

guys like Edy Taveras are super effective in europe, don't why Edey can't do the same.
Part of the Atkinson coaching tree, very interesting hire for sure

How was it a great situation? They were picking #1 for a reason. They were 14th place before drafting ant. Andrew Wiggins wasn’t a winner yet. KAT was talented but he wasn’t that guy. They had no coach.

The next season they won 23 games with ant. Say what you
want about ant off the court but he gets better every year. Some guys change organizations and some guys bad habits get magnified
Kat was a number one pick a few years previously, getting drafted into a team with another all-NBA guy like is as good as it gets considering what usual lottery situations are for most teams.

Ant came into a roster that tanked out the season KAT was hurt, and the season previously had won 47 games (granted it was with Jimmy). But there is a reason they were pretty good almost within a year or two after. Ant deserves all the credit for that, he's the lead dawg.

But people are being disingenuous. Go back to the draft threads, no one was higher on Ant than I was, but situation and teams matter. KAT "isn't that guy" but he's an all-NBA talent. He got drafted to a team that wasn't a perpetual lottery team (think Charlotte, Wizards etc.).

I'm not pushing that LaMelo is better, I'm pushing that Ant is fortunate he was drafted into a great situation. So were a lot of the greatest players in NBA history (Bird/Magic/Kareem).

Recognizing that isn't diminishing him. Basketball is a team game, and it takes a rotation of at least seven really good guys to win a championship. But you read in here and it's all agenda's about Kobe/Lebron/Steph etc. and it's missing the actual story about what happened.

Weren’t you acting like it was close between Ant/LaMelo earlier in the year?

NBA is a star driven league and people don’t like Gobert. Not surprising that the guy who averages 26/8/6 for the series and was the engine for the team is getting the praise. Gobert played really well. But also the Lakers having Jaxson Hayes and no one else was a perfect storm for him. Ant outplaying Bron and Luka is more impressive IMO.
I did say it was close, with the stipulation being if LaMelo could stay healthy, he can't so it isn't close.

So Goober gets the stipulation that he went against Jaxon Hayes. Ant roasted a 40 year old, and the worst point-of-attack wing in the league and that's impressive lol.

People said the Lakers was a bad matchup for Goober cause he's couldn't hang with small-ball, now it was in his favor???

People switch narratives for players they like, and ignore ones for players they don't care about.

Ant is great, give him the flowers I don't care, he deserves it. But he's not some solo act dragging bums, the Wolves have been loaded for the past two years, which at 23 years, people in their prime rarely get loaded rosters like this.

Minnesota hasn’t been a stable franchise though. No one questions KATs talent but you see what they were pre and post Jimmy. KAT and Wiggins contributed to the crash out. Minnesota hadnt advanced to the second round since KG was there until ant became the face. Everyone mentioned in this stable organization had been moved and ant is still here.

Now yes, the twolves front office is better. No doubting that at all. But ant makes you look smart when he continues to get better every season. But let’s not act like the Twolves didn’t draft Jarrett culver the year before

Ant's the face. He's getting the praise you know how it go.

Steph got 1 FMVP but 4 chips and people try to act like he carried those teams. It is what it is.

You don’t play Hayes at least for his height against Gobert?? Sometimes these coaches get too over complicated.

Every team for the most part has hits-and-misses. I haven’t dissed Ant once.

They hit on Jalen McDaniels who is the idea POA wing defender in the league, they made a big trade for Goober with draft capital that they had (great trade) and moved a former #1 pick and all NBA big for another physical All-NBA forward and a guard that can shoot 40 percent from three.

They are a loaded team. They should have won 50 games and came close to it. Ant has improved his shooting making and decision making every year. He is an amazing competitor who wants the moment and doesn’t play with fear.

I’m okay with Ant getting his flowers as I’ve said. I said in in the draft thread, he can be the best guard in the league. But he’s also lucky to be drafted into a situation where the team built well around him.

That’s it.

I told y’all Brosizzlew30.23 Brosizzlew30.23 just be naming tall guys talmbout big bodied big Trey jemison
Just imagine the wrath and vengeance I'll be bringing upon y'all when the Pelinka's stubborn and dumb xxx actually acquires a legit starting center and a couple legit back up bigs to complement Luka, Bron, and Bronny

Don't tell me small ball or 1-Big rosters are the championship formula of the "Modern NBA" because we all know that ain't the case.

Everyone copying the Lakers 2020 model and nothing has changed in 2025

Thing is, no one is discrediting the twolves supporting cast
People discredit Gobert pretty much every time. He’s constantly voted as the most overrated player in the league and people literally say he’s bad at basketball.

I watched fellow Knick fans lambast Randle for years calling him a nut etc.

People love to post that “they have KD but we have Jaded McDaniels”quote from Ant.

People do discredit their players a lot historically. Maybe not tonight but over the past 5 years.

Stop the cap.
