Been out in the market about a month after what happened last month. Got tons of solid opportunities, whenever you pass they always ask "Well do you know anyone else looking, have them give me a call and send their resume" type of thing so why not make a thread to share all them between us? I have also had some great NTers shoot me stuff via PM. Most of you are in Cali, NYC, and the DMV it seems but whatever, maybe theres something you like. Even if not, often recruiters have slots to fill nationwide.

Resume Sites
Usajobs.gov (all field, for GS Government opportunities)
Indeed.com (all fields)
Clearancejobs.com (Government contracting opportunities- all fields)
Ihiretechnology.com (technology fields)
Ziprecruiter.com (all fields)
Nexxt.com (all fields, look at their subsites too)

I'll share a few though, these are local but I have had dozens I passed up from all over. Hit me up or I'll post a few as well.Maybe I can help you rewrite

Yes you'd have to move here which probably wouldn't excite many of you, but with our C.O.L, that pay, and your boy here to show you around you'll be fine. You don't want to move to Ada though. Requirement of the per diem is 50 miles.

I have also interviewed with Dell, Boeing, GCS, Tinker AFB, and TekSystems and they are all probably going to offer me the jobs lol so I have to google how to politely decline and leave the option open for later perhaps. Quickly went from no hits to too many, now I got an interview with Telos tomorrow too

I can also get someone this job. Just apply and PM me your name and/or resume and I'll text the Project Manager. It is in Fort Sill (Army base in Lawton), probably going ot offer you 50k if you already have a Security +. It's another contractor (by the way, go to contractors pages and look what they have even if you aren't interested they probably have something in your state and in your field), but they're getting into GS slots fast now as NETCOM is transitioning more back to GS from Contractors for IT Support

Looks like you're mainly posting IT work. Good looking out first of all!

But what kind of experience do you need and have?

Great thread!

Always good to give back

Now, who got the hook up on the GS 12 position in the DMV? Been an 11 wayyyyy too long

Typically a Security +, but they can hire you without it and give you a probation period (usually 90 days) to get it. Already having it and especially if you already have a clearance is increased value as a prospect though

Mrtarheel, you probably already know this but when you search on usajobs.gov, since you are already a GS you can apply for a lot of opportunities others can't, So the internal to an agency and the current federal employees icon ones, basically all the jobs.

The FBI is an option I seriously considered, watch YT videos about the Quantico experience and everything. Come out a GS11 step something with 25% x locality pay bonus, only have to commit to being a Special Agent for 3 yrs + you typically get enough special projects and overtime they say you'll be making 6 figures easy.

I just got offered another job. I thought I sucked at the interview but apparently not lol. This one would keep me local, not as much as the Migration one but save on the driving so I can be around more plus the kicker is they'll upgrade my clearance to top secret. Almost nobody does that anymore, they want you to already have it

FBI sounds like a very decent deal.

Maybe during a different administration tho

Yea I feel like Trump would put word out to the academy to automatically send all the black grads into Chicago

What does becoming certified in Security + entail?

I'm still trying to get back into Parole/Probation after being laid off 3 years ago, but I'm interested in learning about new fields and what the culture is like.

I'm in HR as well.

I would say Indeed and LinkedIn are some of the best places to go browse for jobs. For non profit jobs, Idealist is a good site to use. Make sure your LinkedIn profile is updated and accurate with your job title, company and your responsibilities. This is important because when recruiter browse through profiles, they need to see what you've done in order to see if you are worth messaging. I know a bunch of applicants that were passed on LinkedIn because their job responsibilities were not listed. It saves us so much time to see everything right then and there, instead of doing an extra step and messaging you (please remember that recruiters have to sort through hundreds of resumes, work on multiple positions, and do this as quickly as possible to not disrupt work flow).

Working with headhunters/recruiters is another resource you all can use. They get paid by the company that has the open position, so not a dime comes out of your pockets. I would advise researching the staffing agencies and recruiters beforehand though. Staffing agencies function like sales, so some staffing agencies might not treat their potential applicants all that great.

Pass the test. There's so much material out there. Ft Sill would hire people without it and they had 90 days to get it (Windows 7 cert also), and most of them used Profesor Messer, the official book, and Pass4Sure.

People differ on if just studying literally to the test and kind of wrote memorization vs actually learning.absorbing it slowly and is remembering it learning, but I say **** it get the cert first however you have to. A lot of jobs require it so it's not < to go take a 6 month class or something and come back later than to cram 2 weeks and pass it. I mean if you have 0 background in computers, maybe, but IDK get some certs adobecs4 adobecs4

So I took a job, start Monday, need to finish my drug test and eqip (10 yrs of job and residence history + references for each entry to upgrade my clearance to Top Secret :x) tomorrow and the local guy sent me an email and I already dont like him. Hopefully he's not how that email came off. I am still taking at interview Friday, it's on Skype so no time/gas lost just throw on a dress shirt not even gonna put on pants and find a clean corner of the room and dial in, for the job that would be by far the most money I have ever made and a much easier job sans for 83 mile commute

Cosign on recruitment/staffing agencies. I visited 2 and both had some stuff that wouldn't have been bad.

I'm in NYC and I want a higher paying/more rewarding gig. Really could care less what it is tbh
