The Official Rising Down Thread.

I think with this album I'm setting my self up for disappointment. It's going to be hard for them to follow up on Game Theory & I know that, but I can't help but have an unfair level of expectancy. I should take the album for what it is, but...............
yea...its definitely no game theory...which I new was classic on 1 listen. But its a great album in its own regard.

The interlude-type mini-songs and abrupt endings of tracks just make the album feel choppy to me. Certainly not a fan of that.

Also, I have to be critical of the chorus work on Can't help it and the show. Like seriously...cmon. They need to get on that avis rent-a-car and try harder.

I disagree. The Roots are innovative and always try new things. The song, Rising Down is absolutely
eek.gif
aside from Styles P.'s verse. I thought P would be great on the album, although his versewas relevant to the concept of the song, I don't think he executed it well. Mos' verse has me excited for his new album. Get Busy was dope too, Dice Raw & Peedi killed it. When I saw/heard 75 Bars (Black'sReconstruction) for the first time, I felt like goin' outside and just kidnapping dudes and lighting them on fire, just like Thought was about todo. If that song doesn't get you hype, something is wrong. Criminal is probably the best all around song on thealbum, good hook, good verses, etc. I Will Not Apologize gets the okay from me. Singing Man is my second or third favorite track personally, it flowed perfectly. Unwritten was pretty good, too short though obviously. Rising Up was okay as well, nothing special.
Definitely worth the moneys.

I'm going to cop it sometime this weekend. Is it better than their Game Theory?

Rising Down
I Will Not Apologize

I share the same sentiments on the album. I like this album a lot. Its not GT but a solid 4.25/5. I agree on the chorus work of Can't Help It whichis unlistenable and The Show....damn good song and good beat but the chorus is a beat weak.
I also couldn't agree more on the interludes they actually break up the flow of the album. @ 15 has a nice flow into 75 bars but the abruptnessof Unwritten which I really was feeling annoys me.

Highlights: Rising Up, Rising Down, Criminal, Singing man, Not Apologize

just copped...so far

75 bars is one of the illest hip hop tracks i've heard in a long time. that song just grabs you by the throat.

Album is amazing. I had to get back in that mindstate though...been listening to alot of bs lately.

Also, I was shocked to hear P. Crizzack...thought dude fell off the face of the earth.

This album is dope. It's no Game Theory but it's still better than 99% of the other BS that's "hot in the streets".
