I want to be able to take care of myself and the people around me. But yeah, I'm young so the drive is there. Goal setting is in full effect.
I feel like that's the hardest thing for me is getting through failures and overcoming them. When I fail at something it often gets to me.
I see what you're saying. But why the selfish part?

People see selfish and think a-hole, but that's exactly hat you need to be successful.

I've seen many a man miss out because he was too busy helping others and being in other people's
business. It's a damn shame. No one cares about you, because you don't care about you.
No one takes you seriously, because you don't take yourself seriously.
Also being selfish doesn't mean you don't help people, you just don't help others at your expense.
You help others because you enjoy it.
To be a MAN, is to do whatever you want, when you want to do it.

I'm all for self discovery. I agree with listening to your elders though, I mean, they been where we been at least one time, they usually know what they're talking about. But there are also old fools, they're obvious.

Here's something to think about.
What if that book is a means of control ?... a way to turn people against each other and convince the weak minded that they have a greater chance for success alone than in a group ?
What if that book is a way to make poor people fight over scraps while the wealthy work together to ensure they maintain their position of power ?
What if there really is an organization of Illuminated ones watching over the common people? What if the 48 Laws are a test of a persons character and fortitude ? A means of weeding out the undesirables who are not to be trusted ?

I never thought about it that deeply, and I think there is validity to your post.
However it's not a strict rulebook that I live by. I take what I see to be desirable
and I use it to my advantage. On another note, I have no problem walking on the backs
of the unfortunate, as long as I get what I want.
